Well Run Campground with Exceptional Service

We’d passed through this area a few years ago when traveling I-80 and noticed there was a campground(CG) and golf course here in Waco, NE. We added this CG to our list and finally got a chance to stay here. The CG is a little ways off I-80 and easy to get to. Check-in was quick and easy and we were led to pull through site 303 with FHUs. There are separate prices for weekdays and weekends. The utilities were at the center of the long gravel pad. Water pressure was okay at around 40 psi. We got 2 bars on Verizon. The sites here are decently spaced especially for a private CG. The CG was clean and well-maintained. If there were long-term residents, you could not tell. We were here over a weekend, so there were families and a lot of kids using the swimming pool, mini golf, and the large playground area. Each site, along with a picnic table and fire pit has a bench swing. There’s a decent-sized dog park on the south side and larger one on the north side. The CG has its own tornado siren plus an underground tornado shelter. There’s one cabin for rent. They also have a well-kept laundry room with 2 washers and 2 dryers. York has your main amenities such as Walmart. The golf course right next door is a deceptively tough 9-hole course.

    Good facilities and family friendly

Really nice staff. Bathhouse is nice and clean. There are all sorts of games: Basketball, volleyball, miniature golf, Large Jenga, etc... Nice pool. Only issue: road noise. It's just off the expressway. It's not too bad though.

Pleasantly Surprised W/ owners that really care for your stay.

Stayed here a few years ago and was pleasantly surprised. Many kid activities with even a Saturday movie night the park put on for the kids. You will not find better service anywhere. Also, next to a golf course that you can literally walk to from your site to play if you like this sort of thing. If you run low on wood, just simply call up to the office and they will bring you more. Will be back there very soon.

    Great scenery

The scenery was beautiful. They also had a nice playground, plenty areas to fish and explore. Only complaint was the spacing of the water spigot and absolutely no cell service for the area. Not that you need it but in case of an emergency or even to check the weather you won’t be able to if you have Verizon.

    Diamond in the rough…

Older park with new owners. Convenient to hwy 80, Waco Nebraska. That means some hwy noise but it’s Nebraska, it’s flat! No jake brake noise. Besides we now wear ear plugs to bed so not an issue (try it, you’ll like it.) This place has all kinds of activities for kids young and old(er). Arcade, pool ( being repaired at time of review, it’s too cool now to think of swimming), corn hole toss game, miniature golf or just rocking on one of the many swinging chairs. Our site was ample, gravel pad and grass, fire ring, table and swing. Everything worked ( other than pool) even Wi-Fi, it worked well! That’s enough to bring me back. A few more of the new owners upgrades and repairs and this place could be a five star.

Stop Over on the Christmas Roadtrip

Rating a three for two reasons: 1) the potable water is shut off (dump station open), and 2) the RV camp Spots are directly next to each other (No room for privacy feom the neighbors)

However, we always prefer to camp by some sort of body of water, so check that box. AND they have a great Christmas light show throughout the park around the lake/campground for the locals that my daughter enjoyed!

If it were closer to town I’d give it 5 stars

The staff were great. Escort you to your site. Lots to do. Swimming pool was fantastic, they had a mini golf course, but it was too hot to play outside. Lots of sites have great trees. Excellent choice for camping. Nearest facilities (beer and chips…ok????) was in York approx 8 miles up the freeway.

Great hosts and peaceful right off I80

We pulled in after office hours and the camp host met us at the front entrance and escorted us all the way to our site. Pull through with full hooks ups.

    Family Favorite

Been camping here since I was a kid and still love bringing my kids to Lovewell. The campgrounds accommodate everything from a tent to a camper. I have even stayed in a hammock a couple times. However, we usually take our camper with the kids and enjoy Cedar Point hook ups. The bath houses are always clean and nice facilities to use.

For the kids they have a nice park and area to play up by the Marina area. I also recommend taking a drive around the outside for docks and fishing areas away from the main camping. We take our kayaks with us and enjoy exploring the coves around the lake.

Lovewell is a man made lake for irrigation purposes so if there is a dry year the lake will be low. That to me is it’s only down fall.

    Great amenities

Spent 3 nights 4 days here in September. There are lots of things that keep kids busy. Outdoor pool, putt putt golf, play ground and more. There is also a golf course that is within walking distance (not attached to park).

Very nice grounds and great amenities

Popped in for a quick one night stay on our way west. Chose this place based on reviews on The Dyrt. It is mid week in October but it's so quiet, which we really like. Great pull through spaces with full hook ups and fantastic WiFi which allowed me to get some much needed work in. When I told the owner we had two dogs he put us directly across from the dog park which our pups really liked. Super cute touches around the place including bench swings at all the sites. Looks like the place could be great for families in the summer.

It is directly adjacent to the highway so there is some noise but it's not too bad. We actually felt it was quiet and relaxing.

    Quiet, peaceful lakeshore camping

Nice, grassy sites right around the small lake, next to a cornfield. There are picnic tables, fire pits, a playground, and a couple shaded pavilions for a picnic or rain shelter. It’s pretty quiet except for the constant low hum of a nearby mill - very Kansas. It’s patrolled by police regularly and is a peaceful, serene, no frills place to camp for a night. Also included - boat ramp for recreation or fishing, bathrooms, disc golf course. Town is right down the road for supplies.

Pretty and right off the highway

First, the owners are SO nice and helpful. The campground is right off the exit so it is very convenient and easy to get to, they have full hook ups for a very reasonable price so it was a great choice for a stop on our cross country trip. The amenities are nice- they have a pool, large playground, mini put and standard camp store. Things look a bit old but well maintained. Each spot had a porch swing, picnic table and fire ring which we very much enjoyed. The laundry room was closed due to Covid, but they do have one which is helpful too :) my kids particularly enjoyed the mini put and pool.

    Great Winter Location

We have visited Lovewell many times during the summer, but this was our first winter trip. We arrived after hours, so we had to pay by the envelope drop post. $10 for primitive camping and a $3 fee. If you have time, I recommend driving all over the campgrounds to pick your location prior to paying. Payment envelopes stick to your window with the campground info exc listed. The bathrooms were open, however the was no running water. Showers and the main store were both closed, not surprisingly with it being winter. The camp fire ring was THE BEST I have EVER seen! It was spacious to accommodate a substantial fire, and had an ADJUSTABLE grill grate! It was perfect for regulating temperatures from cooking to keeping warm. If you are looking for a quiet getaway, this is your place. We plan to return.

    Nice for an overnight

This municipal Campground is right off 36 , very convenient. The price is $20 for water and electric. You can swim in the lake and there are showers and a dump station. The Bel Villa is s great place to eat just up the road with plenty of parking for RVs. No shade. T mobile service was excellent and we got several TV stations.

    Lovewell State Park

Our favorite local park and lake.

We have camped as a family at almost every campground at Lovewell and we are always pleased. All of the primitive spots are wonderful and have a lot of space for the kids to play. There are also beautiful views of the lake at all of the primitive camping spots. Walleye and Willow are our favorite utility camp grounds. There seems to be more room for the kids to run around. Cottonwood is more close knit. We enjoy walking around the park in the off-season and viewing all of the wildlife. The new playground area is absolutely fabulous. Our kids love it. We also enjoy going to the marina to eat. They often have music entertainment out on there deck on the weekends to enjoy.

Ranger Review of Midland ER210 Emergency Weather Radio &XTalker T31 Bundle

    Campground Review

We pulled into The Double Nickel Campground off of I-80 at the Waco exit(360) in Nebraska and were pleasantly surprised. We had a pull-thru site with Electric and Water. The site was a level, gravel pad with a picnic table and a large fire ring and a cute wooden double swing.

We learned that the owners Jeff and Amanda had bought the campgrounds in 2014 and moved here from Georgia. They have been working hard to improve it and are going to be making all RV sites into full hookups this winter. They also had started decorating for a haunted Halloween at the campgrounds.

This campground had free putt putt golf, video games, volleyball, yard games, playgrounds, a swimming pool, kids toys and books, crafts, and even an outdoor movie. Lots to do for family fun. There was also a golf course right next to the campgrounds.

The campgrounds offered tent and RV camping with Electric and Water to full hookups. There was free Wifi. The owner brought our firewood to the site and there was trash pick up at the site. There was a fenced in dog run for the pups. The only con was the interstate noise which we got use to. Everyone was very friendly and we made new camper friends and enjoyed fellowship around the campfire swapping stories and listening to the coyotes chattering in the distance. We will definitely return.

    Product Review

As a Ranger for The Dyrt, I get products to test from time to time. At this campsite my husband and I tested the Midland ER 210 Emergency Weather Radio and XTalker T31 Walkie Talkie Bundle. Some of great features and things I liked about the Emergency Weather Radio are

    1. The ultrasonic dog whistle and flashing beacon to help aid search and rescue locate you in case you are lost or hurt.
    2. Loved all the different ways to charge this Radio. You can use the solar panel, the crank, the rechargeable batteries, or 6 AA batteries, making it a great tool to have.
    3. When we were listening to the radio, a siren went off to alert us that we were in a severe thunderstorm watch and that high winds were expected.

The XTalker T31 Walkie Talkies have

    1. Split chargers making them easy to charge
    2. A call or page button to call each other
    3. Ease of use

September is Emergency Prepareness Month and this bundle will definitely be a great asset to have especially here in Nebraska where the weather can turn bad quickly. Please check them out at https://midlandusa.com

    Right in town

Although we personally have not spent the night here, we visit it every chance we get since it is right in the town of Belleville. You can frolf, fish, have a picnic, go for a walk around the pond, and camp here of course. The thing I like the most is that it is right in town so you have the grocery store and gas stations all within 3 miles. There is also a swimming pool in town for the kids. You can kayak on the pond as well and there use to be small boats that would go on it as well!

    A nice campground with lake

Lovewell is a nice lake campground with nice facilities. We had a concrete pad with water and electric and lots of extra room. I enjoyed riding my bike looking at all the natural beauty. We were there in the middle of the week so it wasn't busy at all and was very peaceful. We couldn't get any cell service so we had to use our imaginations and get creative, and go on lots of walks and trails(which is really why we started camping anyway)😊
