Loon Lake Campground

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Fishing draws campers to Loon Lake Campground, a free Forest Service site set along a lake in Kootenai National Forest outside Troy, Montana. Access requires a long gravel road, so low-clearance vehicles should plan accordingly. The site holds a small number of campers, and wildlife activity at night has been reported. The vault toilet on-site is not reliably maintained, so bringing supplies is a practical precaution. No pets are allowed. The campground runs Memorial Day through Labor Day.

Scary (but) good

There is a vault toilet, but it is not the best kept one. There are enough space for a few campers. A long gravel road to get to the camping. Lots of wildlife. We were all alone and had a large animal outside our car at night
