## Overview

 Lid Creek Campground lies on the Hungry Horse Reservoir, in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, west of the Continental Divide and just south of the Canadian border. Spectacular views and ample opportunities for recreation surround the campground, keeping visitors coming back to the area again and again. Here, we have 22 rentable sites with 13 of them being reservable and 9 for our walk-up visitors. The stay limit is 16 consecutive nights.

 Visitors to the area enjoy a variety of biking and hiking trails that begin near the campground and wind around the reservoir. Boating, swimming and fishing are excellent pastimes on the 27,750-acre Hungry Horse Reservoir. Anglers can expect a catch of cutthroat trout and other varieties.
## Natural Features

 The campground is located along the Hungry Horse Reservoir within the Flathead National Forest in northwestern Montana. It is nestled in a mixed forest of conifers at an elevation of 3,600 feet. The area is popular for its plentiful huckleberry bushes. Home to lynx, grizzly bear, and bull trout and with numerous lakes, streams, and rivers to enjoy, the forest is a premiere destination for visitors.

This is my favorite place to camp. I wish we would have stayed more the two nights! It is absolutely beautiful here! Will be returning

We ended up at Lid Creek after the first few campgrounds along the lake were full. 

Sites are on the small side, and most are not very flat. There is a good amount of distance between sites and lots of trees so privacy is good.

There are 2 clean vault toilets and trash dumpsters. 

Bear boxes are spread throughout. 

Each site has a fire ring and picnic table. 

Host on site sells fire wood. 

Lake access is a just short walk down a trail. There is a great rock beach with plenty of room for kids to play and splash. 

We encountered 2 thunderstorms during our stay... Montana weather is always unpredictable. 

We had a deer walk through our site early morning, so wildlife is definitely near by.

If you want less crowds than Lost Johnny Point, and a greater variety of campsites, Lid Creek is a fabulous option.  The reservoir and mountain views are spectacular, so much so that there was a respectful hush the day I stayed.  Too bad it was cloudy as the stars would have made it even more special.  I knocked a star off the review for not having any clean water sources, because none the sites were more than 30 yards or so from the campground road and for the sites not being right on the reservoir - I have a special place in my heart for waking up next to water views. But there were a ton of short trails down to the shore and nice beaches wherever you went.  The camp host was fun to talk with and on top of things.  And the price is certainly a bargain at $14.  You can very much not go wrong here.     

REVIEW FOR MPOWERD LUCI SOLAR STRING LIGHTS.  I'd give these puppies 4.5/5 stars for ease-of-use, quality-of-build and for 3 light settings that are all both intimate yet useful (for reading, partying, etc.).  They are also waterproof to splashes and light rain.  Plus, the lights last 20 hours on a low setting.  I would have liked a grippy, rubbery, non-slip base, but this is a minor quibble.  The romantic factor is also high with these lights.  You'll get better sleep regardless.

Had a great time, stayed for several nights. Very clean sites, host did amazing job to keep things clean and make campers welcome. Reservoir access as well. Almost don't want to post review and tell others about this spot! Road to campground entrance has many turns but is paved up to that point, road into campground is a little rough but not bad, just need to drive slow

Very off the grid, extremely friendly hosts. Short walk from all sites to Hungry Horse Reservoir. Sites are relatively small but have a picnic table and fire pit (hosts offer fire wood). Beautiful creek through some sites. 

Very isolated with gorgeous views

Most of the campsites face the lake and if they don't it is only a short walk away. Vault toliets, no water so bring your own. Campsite host is very noce and does supply a generous amount of wood for $6. 

Wonderful place

Tried for Lost Johnny point but it was full. Lid Creek had two open spots on a Friday of July 4 weekend- we were thankful. Got site 23. No water, no electric, generators allowed and at least 6 were going in the morning. Vault toilets but VERY clean. Hosts very helpful and available. Some sites like 13-17 were slanted somewhat. 23 was deep and pretty even. Lake is very nice, decent temp for us. Preferred Lost Johnny Point from last time we stayed, but this was a very nice second. 30 minute drive to road, another 10 to West Glacier. Some limited cell reception on Mint Mobile. 

Nice campground, great hosts

Lid Creek Campground is in the Hungry Horse Recreation area on the Hungry Horse Reservoir. The lake, Salish Mountains and Montana’s big sky are all front and center here. Lid Creek is 15 miles off U.S. 2 on a very winding but paved road. The road down to the campground is gravel, lots of tight turns but generally in good shape; we did just fine towing our 30 ft travel trailer. Double-check the campsite length when you reserve - some sites are very short and a smallish car would have trouble fitting. 

The campsites include picnic table and fire pit, there are vault toilets throughout the campground  and bear-proof food boxes - there are definitely bears in the area. Keep pets close by and please store food in the storage boxes. There is NO WATER available at the campground so bring your own or you’ll be frustrated. Camp host was terrific and has firewood at the host site right as you enter the campground. We had 5G of T-Mobile which was very surprising considering how far off the main highway the campground is. West Glacier is about 45 minutes away and a very easy drive from Lid Creek Campground. We loved it!
