 Greenough Lake Campground is within walking distance of its namesake, 12 miles south of Red Lodge, in southern Montana. It is located just off the scenic Beartooth Highway. The area is a popular location for fishing, hiking and scenic driving. Glacier Lake, Hellroaring and Lake Fork trailheads are nearby. 
## Recreation

 Greenough Lake offers canoeing, kayaking and rainbow trout fishing. The Main Fork of Rock Creek is also a popular fishing stream. The Beartooth Wilderness can be accessed via the Hellroaring and Lake Fork trailheads, both of which are not far from the campground. Visitors also enjoy mountain biking and hiking on the Parkside National Recreation Trail. Hellroaring Road is open to off-road vehicles.

 The campground sits in the shadow of the Beartooth Range, on the banks of Rock Creek, less than a quarter-mile from beautiful Greenough Lake. A forest of aspen and pine trees covers the area. A variety of wildlife, including grizzly bears, deer and elk, makes its home in the surrounding area.

## Charges & Cancellations

 Refunds: Refund requests made through www.recreation.gov will be charged a $10 processing fee. This cancellation processing fee is retained by the reservation service contractor along with the non-refundable reservation fee. All requests for the return of the non-refundable reservation fee and the cancellation processing fee will be declined by the campground concessionaire as they did not receive these fees (these are the fees retained by the reservation contractor, a different entity).

Love this place.  Great hiking, fishing, and wildlife viewing!

Great family Experiance

We visited in mid September for a great weekend. The sites are large and nicely laid out. It's a short 1/4 mile hike to a beautiful mountain lake with great fishing and plenty of boulders for kids to climb. Get your growler filled at Red Lodge Ales on the way down to the campground and bring your truck or ATV to take a trip up to the Hellroaring plateau. This is an amazing corner of the world. Love it!

A great spot for fall camping

Great for family gatherings and outings - but make reservations early to make sure you can all get campspots next to each other or at least close.

No better way to beat the city heat

This is just down the road from a couple other campgrounds. It’s nice to have options when you don’t have reservations. 

  

The sites are large and spread out. Some are in the sun while others have separate areas for the picnic table. Trees are around which create a nice wooded setting. A water hand pump and clean vault toilets can be found. 

  

The Greenough trailhead is at the end of the campground. Hike or bring your fishing gear and try your luck. We saw several families heading out with their fishing rods- but we didn’t see any caught fish.... This is also just at the start of where the Beartooth Highway starts going up to the west. 

  

We didn’t like this one as much as Parkside Campground but it’s nice having options.

Wooded sites that are large near hiking and fishing 

Very nice place to camp and take the kids. It’s in the trees and very shady and has a lake close by that is really fun to fish with the kids. The campground is completely paved, has bathrooms, and a hand pump water well. There is no dump station or electricity but there is a free dump station in near by Red Lodge. 

Great two night getaway

Beautiful campgrounds, just a little tight backing into some spots if you have a larger camper

Nice private sites

Great Campground before you go up the Beartooth Pass which is an adventure by itself. Campground has Greenough Lake and creek to swim in or fish. Amazing views and plenty of restrooms.

This is a beautiful campground and some great hiking or fishing.  All sites are within ear shot of the creek and with the peace of the forest and the songs of the creek you have found peace.  The towering peaks of the Beartooth range is beautiful.

Quite Fetching

Although my initial intention was to stay nearby at the dispersed M-K, there was a closed gate so I found this around the corner. I am not used to visiting paid campgrounds but this one was fantastic. Spacious and super clean. Views from several spots are outstanding. The trailhead to Greenough Lake hike was 100yds away. I stayed 2 nights and definitely will visit again. Zero cell phone coverage. Difficulty finding the hosts.
