CMR Wildlife Refuge

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Wide-open hilltop sites and 360-degree horizon views define this BLM dispersed area within the Charles M. Russell Wildlife Refuge outside Zortman, Montana. Campers should expect wind at elevation. Site boundaries are loosely marked, though that ambiguity rarely matters given low visitation. Pit toilets and a few picnic tables are available in the valley below. Anglers have river access on site. This area suits self-sufficient campers comfortable navigating unmarked dispersed terrain.

Great Spot!

It was a little unclear were to stay but it wasn’t a problem since we were the only ones there. This spot is on a hill with great views. It did get a bit windy on us. The spot we chose was relatively flat also.

Wild Landscape

Quiet vistas. Great touring on the auto route. 360° views of the horizon and some of the most fantastic sunrises and sunsets I've ever seen. Plenty of privacy in the dispersed camping. Pit toilets in the valley. Few picnic tables.
