Great spot

We had one of the primitive tent sites. It was great and hardly anyone else was at the park. Too cold for the water when we went. Bathrooms could have been nicer but better than nothing.

Serene, quiet little getaway

Really enjoyed the views. Some of the old spots are tight, but still doable with a smaller rig. We stayed at site 4 (old side) as it was our first time staying there. The site was great as it was looking over the lake and not a far walk to the bathhouse and tank dump if you need them. No sewer hook ups at old sites, but do have them at the new ones. When we left, we went to the new side and it’s a lot nicer with sewer hookups.. even had handicap spots.

Our favorite campsite

We love this campsite, nestled away in the backwoods relatively easy to get to. We go here all the time, the rangers are always nice and constantly watching/riding around making sure there is no one causing trouble. New campsites with full hookups are coming soon but even the older ones are nice, just no sewer. And most of the older sites are on the water

Beautiful hiking paths

The hiking trails are beautiful and well marked. Campsites are very spacious and most offer a great view of the lake. My biggest complaints are the bathhouses being in need of updating/maintenance, the fire rings are just rocks placed in a circle (hard for kids to see when the terrain is rough everywhere), and the number of people speeding through the state park makes it dangerous to walk from the campground to the hiking areas. On the plus side, they are remodeling about half the sites and they look amazing.

Beautiful

I’m so glad I’ve finally checked this campsite off the list! It is a beautiful CCC camp that was built in the 1930s. It has primitive site, hookups, cabins and wall tents. There are lots of activities to do as well. It was sad to see some of the buildings in disrepair and I wish the bathrooms could get an upgrade. Be sure to check out the swinging bridge! There’s also disk golf!

Quaint and quiet

This is our first visit here. First impressions are that it is a small, quiet park. It turned out to be less than we expected but not total a let down. The drive in and area in and around the park are beautiful scenic areas. We have encountered several trails, a lake, basketball area, pool, and other typical campground facilities. The sites themselves are mostly spacious with rather small camper pads. The green areas around the pads are spacious but mostly in even. We had a hard time finding an area flat enough to put up out tent on level ground. There is a grill, fire ring, and picnic table on each site.

Bad state of disrepair

Handicap accessible" shower is far from it! You can get a wheelchair into the stall, but that is the only help. No seat in range of the shower and a stationary shower head. Vert difficult if you're an amputee with severe arthritis. Also the water, electric and general infrastructure need updating badly. It is beautiful and could be a very good campground with some work. I only paid for three nights to have use of the amenities as we usually boondock. We won't be back

Peaceful

Always packed with hikers but nonetheless we always have enough space and a good time. The downfall to this park is the camper pads. There are a few that are perfect. Most of them once you step out of your camper has a huge drop off. Just remember to park as close to the hookup side as possible. Clean bathrooms and nice hosts when we go. Love the trails. The Bear Creek is peaceful to sit beside. Hoping to kayak here this summer. Can’t wait to go back.

The Diamond of Mississippi State Parks

We've camped  to Tishomingo State at least 3 times in the last 6 months. It's the first site we visited after purchasing our Wildwood Travel Trailer. Sites are level and most are easy to back the trailer into. No full hookups but all the sites have electricity and water. Plenty of trees and amazing views from all the site. Cellphone coverage is not good here for Verizon or AT&T. Better at front of camp.

I can't state enough how much there is to do in Tishomingo! Plenty of trails that would satisfy an Ultramarathoner. A lake for fishing (honestly never seen anyone catch a fish 🐟) and canoeing. Tishomingo has disc golf, large pavilions, and historic sites to visit.

Overall it's always clean when we've been there but there is quite a bit of age on the campsite. Roads are pretty rough in areas as well.

Easy to find

Super easy access from the Natchez Trace Parkway. All sites are level concrete but narrow. No room for error on either side. Grills and some picnic tables close to each site but not close to be convenient to an RV kitchen. At 20.00 a night it is well worth an overnight stay.

The campground needs some upkeep.

We visited Tishomingo State Park in May, 2020. Generally, the park was ok. While the pads on the camper sites were level, almost all of them had a serious drop off almost immediately, so it was almost impossible to enjoy sitting under the awning near the camper.  The facilities were closed due to Covid-19.  The hiking nearby was fabulous, make sure to see the swinging bridge.

Good enough

Located in a beautiful area. However, when we camped the campground was full and some people had little respect for their fellow campers. One group allowed their children to continue to yell and scream late into the night. It’s unfortunate there are no rangers patrolling and educating campers on appropriate campground behavior. Campsite provide no privacy and are very close together as well. Bathroom facilities are clean and well maintained.

Beautiful park but needs serious TLC

Tishomingo SP is a short drive for us from Memphis. We wanted to give it a shot and booked a site (#32). We were self-contained in our RV and thank goodness because the nearest bathhouse was a hike! The campground was ok. Our site was level. Fire ring, picnic table, etc were fine. We booked there because of the swimming pool. It was one of the first weekends it was open and the pool area was in serious need of some TLC. Pool was fine and the kids loved it, but the chemicals in the water destroyed mine and my wife’s smart watches 😳.

We barely hiked and had to ride out a thunderstorm but we didn’t regret our trip. I don’t believe any sites had sewer. The circle at the end would be great to reserve with a group of friends (assuming you’re self-contained). All sites have access to the lake and if you had a canoe or kayak, it’d be easy to access.

Overall, it’s not the best park I’ve been to but it’s not the worst. Not bad for $22/night.

Tranquil and serene

We went camping here in May 2019 before Memorial Day and it was so peaceful and beautiful. We were fortunate enough to get a spot right on the lake.

It is such a perfect place to get away from it all.

We were there for 5days . We got on the Natchez Trace parkway. Also we went to Tupelo.

The bathrooms were not very clean but we were there off season and had a skeleton crew. But the park itself was beautifully decorated. They also have disc golf.

Make sure you bring bug spray and check for ticks.

If you have a bike it’s a great place to ride.

Please consider going there the town itself had a tornado go through it and could really use the tourism. I called the park and they said the park itself was not touched by the tornado and had no damage.

It is the perfect park to social distance the spots are not close to each other.

Well rounded campground

Ill start with amenities. The bathrooms are nice and clean. Little dated externally but regularly cleaned. A lot to do in the park! Hiking, fishing, kayak/canoeing, swimming, and disc golf. The park rents kayaks and canoes. Reservations recommended. The campsites are decent. They have primitive or water/electric. We always opt for the RV sites. Bring ant spray! Major ant problems every time we have camped here! One of my favorite “local to me” campgrounds! Would get 5 stars if the would mow more frequently. Grass areas always seem to need to be mowed when we go! Pool is well kept and clean. Fun disc golf course. Beautiful, rustic cabins are an option here as well. Hiking is a must here. Numerous trails from novice to difficult.

We've visited Tishomingo State Park twice in the last few months.  The first was in February when we stayed at the cabins.  They have big porches, a kitchen, bathroom, and two beds which was perfect for two couples to visit.  They are quite old, but it adds to the charm of the cabins.  We had a fire in the fire pit at night, played disc golf, hiked, and walked down to the river to sit a bit.  Such a nice weekend!

Easter weekend we took our camper to Tishomingo State Park.  It was a lovely time despite the rain on Friday night!  We spent one afternoon playing disc golf and hiking.  The hiking trails are lovely!  Our dog enjoyed it too.  On Easter weekend, there is a huge Easter egg hunt for children which drew a lot of people.
