SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Bugs define the Bear Lake experience as much as the lake itself. Biting flies and mosquitoes are consistent across summer visits, so insect repellent is not optional. Cell service is absent. The dispersed layout gives campers multiple fire-ring areas to choose from, though some sites sit close together, and the campground lacks formal boundaries between them, which can create ambiguity about shared space. Vehicles up to 20 feet can access the site. Campers who want guaranteed solitude and come prepared for insects will get the most out of Bear Lake, and those exploring campgrounds around Two Harbors will find this one among the more low-infrastructure options in the region.

Bear lake dispersed camping

It was a beautiful spot, many different sites to stay at. Some of them are a little close to each other but if you drive around a bit you can find some hidden spots! I took my bike out and got DESTROYED by biting flies, the mosquitos were also fairly hungry! I’d say bring repellent, know that there is no service out there, and enjoy the scenery!

Beautiful/No privacy

I love this spot, technically there are two campsites. I assumed that each spot was marked by one fire pit like in the UP/Michigan but after I got here someone else pulled up in the same space I was. It IS a larger area but I was hoping to be alone, as I came here by myself. Now I’m worried about encroaching on the family’s space by starting a fire…

Bear Lake

Easy drive in pulling a 21’ trailer. We came in on a Thursday and were the only people here. Lots of flies and mosquitoes, but that is the only negative.
