Crow Lake Primitive Sites

Part of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers system, Crow Lake Primitive Sites operates as a single large dispersed campsite with room for multiple groups. The site sits at the top of a slope with a turnaround area that can accommodate big rigs, though the lower section requires more maneuverable vehicles due to the grade. Visitors enter through a split road where taking the right fork leads directly to the camping area.

The location allows campfires and welcomes pets, with picnic tables provided for outdoor dining. Cell service reaches the area, keeping campers connected during their stay. For those seeking additional camping near Cullen, Wenks Landing Recreation Area lies just over a mile southeast. The primitive setup works well for RV travelers and tent campers comfortable with basic amenities in a dispersed setting.

No annoying insects, just a place to park

This is just the one campsite, but it's quite large and there's a turnaround which could be used for a second campsite if you have a vehicle that can handle it. The one at the top of the slope is better for larger vehicles though.

I'm not sure if my bus would easily be able to handle going down that slope, but someone drove around it very easily in a Jeep with no trailer.

When you enter the area, you'll see a split in the road. Take the right side and that's where this USACE campground is at.
