This is a great campsite and it very well spaced and provides excellent scenery and there is plenty to do. Only issue we have come across was that the electric service on our site kept tripping the breaker. Only running ac and a CPAP machine and the breaker would not hold......very disappointing…
We chose to camp in a primitive site and ended up right on the lake. We are here during the week so it’s really nice and quiet!! Would definitely come back!
Axtel is a nice COE campground on Rough River Lake. Very family friendly and clean.
The sites are a little tighter than a typical COE facility but there appeared to be many folks buddy camping so it was well suited for that. Most site have power and water and it looked to be updated not too long…
This place I can't even begin . I have lived in KY ALOT OF MY LIFE .I HAD NO IDEA THIS EXISTED. AND I STILL HAVE A HARD TIME I FEEL LIKE I HAVE OPENED THE DOORS OF A STORY BOOK AND THERE IT IS THIS PLACE IVE BEEN LOOKING FOR BUT ALWAYS THOUGHT I HAD TO GO FAR AWAY TO SEE SOMETHING LIKE THIS OR…
Very pretty city park with wide sites though some are close together. Nice lake, trails, swimming area. Etc. Sites have water and electric, dump station on site. Weekends are busy. We would stay here again.

Live quietly! This peaceful little town has a wonderfully cared for rv park right on the boat ramp to the green river. There’s a shower house and a nice pavilion for use. Affordable!!!
Tucked in and away a beautiful holler, this is what modern day camping is at its finest. The staff are amazing, and friendly. When you walk into the main office you’re greeted by items of nostalgia and a past long gone, from a Boy Scouts weblo book to lps and this place is amazing. Be sure to grab…
Spent Thanksgiving here as a way to just have a quiet relaxing time.
A lot of people pull in for the night since it's right off the highway and behind a Pilot/Flying J, but it was still quiet.
Got to chat at length with the owner and you can tell he cares about the property.
Will stay again when…
The park is small and cramped. Sites are very close together. The rates are extreme for this area.
Stopped here for 2 nights on a long trip from WV to AR. So glad we did! Nice camping, but the cave was so awesome to tour. Fascinating how they mined the salt-petre to manufacture gunpowder.

It is under new ownership at this time. It is not worth the price you pay for a KOA. It is extremely run down. None of the amenities are kept up such as the kids playground, mini golf course and campsite extras. Some of the campsites have wheels for fire pits while others have nice stone pits. Some…
Loved this place. Less than 10 minute walk to the Visitor Center, restaurant, ice cream shop and camp store. US Post Office on site will stamp your mail with the Mammoth Cave cancellation stamp. Many sites are drive through, no electric or water at site, lots of trees so little solar power…

My son and I took a quick weekend trip here with a friend and his son. The campsites were spacious, bathrooms were clean, the cave was great, and there was some awesome hiking spots as well. We’re going to make this an annual trip.
I enjoy the different cave tour options. Everyone is has always been very informative which makes the experience a great one. We did the Green river boat tour which was cool. We even enjoyed the ferry ride. I went backpacking here in January so there wasn’t many people at all which made it extra…

Highly recommend this trip and staying in the Mammoth Cave Lodge cottages! Close to the cave tours, Green River, and lots of hiking trails in the area!
