Unimpressive and crowded

The campsite is considered to be primitive, which is fine, but it is right along the trail without any cover. All the campsites are one on top of the other without any cover in between or from the trail. They were all taken and incredibly packed during the Memorial Day weekend and honestly seemed…

zero maintenance run down smelly

Overwhelming smell of dead fish that are laying aplenty on the shores of Ohio Rv. as there is no staff to clean up. Add to this general malaise of zero maintenance mowing or repairing decrepid sites and you get the picture. Did have 30 amp to drive my AC that covered the sound of the work crew…

On the lake

Stayed in lot 18. Shade was great. Lake is beautiful spots are gravel pads with fire ring. On vault toilet, good but not totally maintained. Busy on weekends. Some lots traffic due to boat ramp. Far corner fairly good

Good, wooded sites

We stayed 2 nights at site 6 in May. It was a roomy, wooded site with water and electric for $22/night. Unfortunately, there was SO MUCH poison ivy that we couldn't play in the woods. But we enjoyed our stay on the beautiful lake! Decent bathrooms and playground but not great. The shower never did…

Fantastic Family Camping

We stayed at the Hillman Ferry Campground. We booked online but once we arrived, the attendant suggested we change sites. I recommend calling to book. Some sites are full hookup to include sewer, ours was not. Some sites are also electric only. Call ahead to be sure your have what you need at…

So close to hiking but close to each other in the sites

This campground is a small loop with sites on both sides. You pass a public picnic area on the way in. This was packed when we went. The sites were a bit too close to each other for us. Our dog needs more vegetation to mask other camper distractions. The campground is beautiful though. The main…

Backpacking camping along Indian Point Trail

Many different experiences available so decide what you are looking for. The parking lot is marked as backpacking parking. We headed down Indian Point Trail and within 50 yards or so we came upon the first site. An offshoot trail headed off to the right and ended at a nice campsite with a set fire…

Pretty, clean, quiet camping

Went went for 5 days in a trailer and had a great time! Really level sites with space between camps. The hikes were beautiful and the bison and elk prairie nearby was a hit with the kids. As was the planetarium and nature center. We'll be back soon!!

Nice location and sites, rough road, first come first served

This small campground is nice once you get there!  Just know it is remote and the road to get there is rough, so, if you are not comfortable with that, I would go elsewhere.  There are no hookups, although water is available.  Also there are pit toilets which are not the worst I have seen!  No cell…

Best place I’ve been on the water

Great place for backcountry though you can drive right to the spot. The gravel road back can be rough especially right after a big rain but you can avoid most of the holes. The site is right on the water with a gravel opening beside it. We were able to setup 4 tents with lots of room to spare. We…

Riverside rustic camping - check if open

We drove down to camp here and found this campground closed. We walked in past the locked gate to scout it out and there was a line of debris left behind from when the river was higher.

There is a vault toilet and a simple loop setup to the campground. The road continues past camp to a marina…

Dusty, rustic camping at the edge of Shawnee

This small, rustic camp is at the edge of Shawnee and only had a few campers staying multiple nights with us. Then the turkey hunting season came upon us and the sites filled.

We had site choices that ended up being along the gravel forest road that goes by camp. This put us away from other…

  • The gravel road is just beyond the back of our teardrop. We had shade for a portion of mid day. Maybe more shade would be here after the leaves grow out.
  • Head down the forest road and you will find this small cemetery. The family lost a few children within a few years - life must have been tough in the 1800s.
