Kentuckiana Kampground and Country Opry

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Kids have a lot to do at Kentuckiana Kampground and Country Opry, from a big red slide in the holler to multiple play areas scattered across the grounds. The campground sits near camping near Mackinaw, drawing families who want a structured, activity-focused stay rather than a remote wilderness experience. Pull-through sites are available, which helps larger rigs maneuver without too much hassle.

Sites run close together. Reviewers consistently note the cramped spacing, and a staff runner guides arriving campers to their spots, which keeps traffic moving but can create some pressure to unhitch quickly. The campground delivers firewood directly to sites, and bikes are not permitted after dark. Halloween-themed events in October draw visitors looking for a seasonal experience, and the surrounding area has a Casey's and a farm stand selling firewood within a few minutes' drive.

Cell service is essentially nonexistent on-site. Ryan L. noted that "we did not have any cell phone service here at all," with at least Sprint and Verizon confirmed to have no signal. Campers who need connectivity should plan to drive a short distance to find a usable signal. Full hookups with electric, water, and sewer are available for RVs, and the campground also has showers, a dump station, and drinking water. Pets are allowed and reservations can be made in advance. Those planning an October visit should book early, as the Halloween weekend events appear to fill the campground quickly.

Nice atmosphere, a bit cramped

We stayed here the second week of October in 2020. The campground staff is polite and they have a runner guide you to your campsite, which is good because the sites are a bit cramped. If there is someone waiting to get into their site you kind of feel hurried to get unhitched, so keep that in mind and don’t forget things like putting chocks under the wheels. They deliver wood to the campsite which is nice they also don’t let kids ride bikes at night which makes sense. The big red slide and playground area in the holler is a fun area for the kids. We were there the week before the Halloween festivities and it looks like that was going to be a good time as well. We did not have any cell phone service here at all and from talking to some of the other campers they did not either so that eliminates at least Sprint and Verizon cell phone signal. There’s a Casey’s and a farm that sells firewood a few minutes away, and we were able to get us halfway decent signal there. Overall nice place, we will be staying here again.
