Crazy Horse Campground

Family-owned Crazy Horse Campground operates from April through October on level, packed gravel sites that accommodate RVs up to 60 feet. The grounds feature both pull-through and back-in sites with full hookups, plus walk-in tent areas scattered among mature trees that provide shade during summer months.

Two catch-and-release ponds anchor the property's fishing opportunities, while a small beach area includes volleyball courts for active campers. The bathhouse stays clean and well-maintained according to multiple visitors, and a playground serves families with children. Weekend events range from bluegrass music to craft activities, drawing what one reviewer describes as "a heavy-drinking crowd" during peak times.

Cell service varies significantly by carrier - AT&T users report good coverage while Verizon customers face connectivity challenges extending roughly 45 miles in any direction. The on-site owners live across the road and keep the lodge office open until 8 PM for any issues that arise. Sarah S. notes the campground sits "in the middle of nowhere but only about 20 minutes to the nearest small town."

For regional exploration, the campground provides access to campsites near Jacksonville and sits within driving distance of Springfield. Reserve ahead during event weekends when regular visitors return for repeat stays.

Perfect Getaway

My best friends family stays out there and has nothing but great things to say about the place. I happen to agree with them. If you need a place to get away from city life but don't want to travel far away from town, you can't beat this place.

Awesome campground

We camp out there every other weekend and took our friends out camping with us this weekend. The owners are really great people and genuinely care about the customers and the campgrounds

Nice place!

Catch and release fishing, small beach area with volleyball. Sites are small but clean. Bath house is clean and well maintained. Live music on the weekend. Definitely a heavy-drinking crowd. Camp store. It's in the middle of nowhere but only about 20 minutes to the nearest small town. No Verizon wireless service here or anywhere for about a 45 mile radius.

Great family campground

Really love this Campground! The owners are a young family, with a bunch of kids! They live across the road to handle any issues. The lodge/office is open til 8. Level packed gravel sites. We have a 40’ class A. Plenty of pull thru sites. Back in sites are great too. Lots of trees. Good shade. Well kept grounds. 2 catch and release ponds. Playground. Fire pit. AT&T wireless service. Every weekend has an event. Bluegrass to crafts. Right outside of Jacksonville, Ashland, Virginia, and close enough to Springfield. We were there last weekend and will be there again at the end of the month. Happy Camping!
