Perched in the high country of Payette National Forest, this dispersed spot sits just below the summit of Smith Mountain — close enough to the historic fire lookout that it doubles as a natural basecamp for the hike up. Wide-open views define the setting, with little to no cell signal reinforcing the sense of backcountry remove. Access is via Black Lake Road, and the terrain and road character favor smaller, high-clearance rigs.
