The Best Camping Near Cataldo, Idaho

We like the more remote and peaceful campgrounds. We took a chance and got off the i-90 at cataldo and drove 8 miles into the woods. The road started out paved then went to a nice gravel road in the last 2 miles were pretty bumpy. Then we arrived at lost moose campground. Peaceful and in the woods. We heard lots of  Elk bugling throughout the evening. Everyone was friendly. the Brook running by was calming. We had a great evening. If you like full service RV parks with lots of entertainment and distractions and Wi-Fi this is not for you.

8 miles in and worth it!

Lost Moose Campground is a hidden gem tucked 8 miles off of I-90. This campground was clean and well-maintained, and the owners were extremely pleasant and friendly. There are 14 RV sites with water and electric, 6 pull-through sites, and 8 back-in sites. There are 4 tent sites along the Latour Creek if that is more your style. There is a small gift/ general store on site with goodies for everyone. 

  

After turning off I-90 at Cataldo, ID, it is a two-mile paved drive followed by a 6-mile gravel and dirt road to the campground. The gravel and dirt road was well maintained with only a few potholes to avoid. As long as you do not mind getting your rig a little dirty, this campground is well worth the trip.

Beautiful hidden private campground

The campground is easily accessible from the interstate with just a small stretch of bumpy gravel road. Our site (16) was right next to the rushing creek, and even though the campground was full, it was very peaceful! The host met us at our car just as we pulled in and was very friendly and welcoming. The shower house was roomy and nice, there were outdoor games set up that we didn’t have time to utilize but I loved that we had the option! I would definitely recommend this campground!
