Directions
Getting to Camp Idaho City is 1 hour from the Boise airport. Once you’re here, you’ll find our campground 8 miles above downtown. For most visitors, the simplest way to get here is ID route 21– The Ponderosa Pine Scenic Byway. This route is paved until the last 8 miles, and all dirt road sections are maintained by Boise County. Roads may be wash-boarded, but are paved and passable by passenger vehicles all year (4wd or chains advised in winter, when roads may be slippery). NOTE– Though your Maps may suggest it, most locals avoid the lower section of Grimes Pass Rd. by passing the road’s first entry point, along ID 21. That section of road is bumpier than the rest. Travelers from the North side of the Treasure Valley might be closer to ID 55. For a longer section of dirt road adventure, you can cut up this way through Horseshoe Bend. Along this route, Harris Creek Rd. is not fully maintained in winter, so skip this route in the snowy season! If you’re an off-roader, Jeep driver, or adventure enthusiast, there are tons of fun ways to get to Grimes Pass that will take you off-road to flex your 4×4 muscles. You can find tons of trails to connect unique routes to ID 21, Idaho City, or Grimes Pass. Or, contact us and we'll share some of our favorite trails!
