Free dispersed sites along the river in Payette National Forest make Big Bar a low-infrastructure stop for anglers, paddlers, and hikers. Drive-in access is straightforward, with boat-in and walk-in options available as well. The site has toilets but no developed water hookups; the river is the water source on hand. Campers report views of waterfalls, canyon walls, and rock slides in the surrounding terrain. Among the campgrounds around Payette National Forest, this one tends to work best for those who want direct river access and don't need full facilities.
