Grayback Campground and Group Sites is located in the [Boise National Forest](https://thedyrt.com/camping/idaho/near/boise-national-forest), featuring forested terrain with a mix of trees and open spaces. The area experiences temperature highs around 80°F in summer and lows near 20°F in winter. Visitors can explore nearby attractions such as the Kirkham Hot Springs and the scenic Payette River.

Grayback Campground is located 36 miles northeast of Boise, Idaho, just off scenic State Highway 21. Historic Idaho City is just two miles north of the campground. Visitors enjoy fishing in Mores Creek and exploring the Grayback Gulch Trail.\_\_Natural Features:The campground is situated on a hillside about a quarter-mile above State Highway 21, at an elevation of 4,200 feet. A ponderosa pine forest covers the site, offering partial shade. Wildlife and summer wildflowers are abundant in the area.Recreation:Mores Creek can be accessed just below the campground. Anglers fish for rainbow trout. \_\_Grayback Loop Trail begins within the site, offering a 1-mile footpath for hikers.Numerous trail opportunities are in the area just north of Idaho City, where hiking, biking, horseback riding and off-road vehicles can be enjoyed. During the winter, the area becomes a playground for back country skiers and snowmobiles.

Flood Waters washed out the bridge that connects Hwy 21 to the campsite in 2016.  

UPDATE:  Grayback Gulch is OPEN and a wonderful little campground a short drive from Boise.    No hookups, but the toilets are clean and there are two fresh water pumps.   Fishing is available in nearby Moores Creek.  If you can get a campsite along the north end, you may have walking access to a small stream that burps and gurgles down the hillside.   There may be ATV traffic as it's a popular location for families.  I really like using this as a quick 'getaway' overnight.

Wide open campground with lots of space to roam.  A good base camp for other area activities such as hiking.  Not a lot of privacy between campsites but the sites have some room in between.

Just far enough away from Hwy 21

Easy to find, get to and quiet. Lots of spots to choose from. Kind of close together but lots of space in each individual spot. Plenty of room for my 12x16 tent and canopy to set up with lots of room left. Few little easy trails to walk. Perfect streaming level service with T-Mobile. Bathrooms are what you’d expect, nothing fancy but gets the jobs done
