Super Convenient Overnight Layup on Southern 295 Beltway

This is the southern tip of the I295 beltway where you’ll find yourself encircling the largest city in the US (believe it or not, that’s Jacksonville) where you just stumbled upon some pretty freshly poured pavement surrounding this particular Walmart. So yes, the supercenter here is fairly new and you’ll delight in discovering that so too is its parking pad which we found to be fairly spacious, not too terribly crowded and incredibly level. There’s great lighting here at night and you’re just far enough away from I295 where the busyness of the highway traffic is somewhat shielded here, although San Jose Boulevard that brought you to this low-cost retailer is one very jammed up bit of traffic mess, made complicated by all of the construction going on further south of this particular location – so take a tip: don’t go any further south on this thoroughfare if you don’t have to. IMHO the best area for you to check out parking accommodations are those as far north and west as possible as the former is nearest the highway, it will place you as far away from all of the traffic coming in and out of this Walmart and while the west side will plant you near the 4-laner that brought you here, the northern perimeter will keep you away from the highway noise as it is shielded by other businesses and a treeline. Should you need to grab some grub, there’s tons of places available from Cracker Barrel, Bob Evans or Stake & Shake just due north of your location or Chili’s due south. From a supply standpoint, while you can likely get just about anything you are looking for here at this Walmart, there’s a Whole Foods, Publix and Target just due north of I295.

While scoring criteria may vary from one person to the next, here are the 5 most important criteria that informed my rating of this overnight location: convenience (EZ on- and off-access), safety & security, quality (of facilities), peace & quiet and amenities (either on-site or nearby). Here’s how I ranked this particular overnight spot:

Convenience: 5

Safety & Security: 3

Quality: 4

Peace & Quiet: 3

Amenities: 5

Overall, I scored this location a 4.

Happy Overnighting!
