West Fork Cimarron Road Dispersed — Uncompahgre NF

West Fork Cimarron Road (FR 860) cuts through the high San Juan country of Uncompahgre National Forest, running beneath the dramatic spires of Chimney Rock and Courthouse Mountain, with the Courthouse Mountain Trailhead just up the road. Multiple open, grassy pullouts are scattered along the route — some easier, some rougher — with fire rings, flat tent spots, and a nearby creek. The road has washboards and steepens as it climbs, making small trailers workable on the lower stretches but larger rigs a poor fit; no cell service and very dark skies at night.
