## Overview

 This location is available on a first-come, first-served basis only. Visitors are required to physically arrive at the campground to purchase and claim a site. Once on-site, you may be able to pay for your campsite(s) by scanning a QR code using the Recreation.gov mobile app, and the Scan and Pay feature. If this option is available, you will need to\_\_first download the free Recreation.gov mobile app https://www.recreation.gov/mobile-app prior to your arrival\_\_as some remote areas have limited or no cellular service. 
## Facilities

 Transfer Park Campground was a historic tranfer station for ore and supplies between pack mules and wagons in the mining era. The campground is 1 mile past Florida Campground with 11 shaded acres above the Florida River. Two loops have 25 sites with shade and sun, and large, open play areas. The upper loop is mostly level, with several larger sites. The lower loop is near the river and has 2 larger sites, a few short pull-throughs, and several tent spots.

Beautiful 

About 45 minute drive from downtown Durango, this is fabulous off-grid camping. You feel like you are many miles away. The facilities are clean, location is beautiful. There is accessible hiking and cycling nearby. Campsites are very private. Water nearby. Camp host is great. Love this place!

Beautiful area, no phone service...but that's not what camping is for, right? Nice deep fire pit, clean area. Not too busy. 

Review 

Transfer park campground is a nice place to camp just outside Durango. We mostly planned to spend the days down in Durango and use the camp spot for the evening. It is a bit of a trek from town, maybe 45-50min, but the drive is beautiful. The campground itself is clean and heavily forested. A small meadow separates the two loops, with a path down the middle to the beautiful river area you see in the pictures (3ish min walk from you site). We stayed in the lower loop on the “inside” part of the loop. The outside spots are closer to the river, but you have to scramble down the side of the mini cliff to get to the water, walking through the meadow let’s you access the river at “ground level”, so to speak.

Forested and Quiet

The campground was relatively quiet and offered lots of shade from the hot summer sun.  

Serene and beautiful

I’ve camped here several times, spring, summer &amp; fall. Never a bad time. Great for rope cliff climbing and extensive hiking.
