Dexter Creek Road Dispersed — Uncompahgre NF

High-elevation aspen grove along Dexter Creek Road (CR 14/FR 871) in the Uncompahgre National Forest shelters this single dispersed site near the ridgeline with an established hiking trail close by and very light traffic. A fire ring with a sitting log is already in place, and fallen wood is abundant. The approach involves a rocky creek crossing and technical terrain — high-clearance four-wheel drive is strongly recommended, as a posted sign at the crossing warns against passenger vehicles and several visitors have had to turn around.
