## Overview

 The Timberline Campground, near Kenosha Pass, is about 7 miles southwest of the small town of Grant. The abundance of aspens at the site creates impressive fall scenery along the forested hillside. Wildlife in the area includes golden eagles, elk, mule deer, moose, chipmunks and porcupines.
## Recreation

 The Colorado Trail is located within one mile of the campground and offers abundant hiking, biking and horseback riding opportunities. The epic 471-mile trail stretches across Colorado from Denver to Durango. Visitors may also enjoy fishing in Hoosier Creek.
## Natural Features

 The family campsites are divided into two loops, that are separated by a rise. Both loops sit among a stand of aspen, spruce and lodgepole pines along Hoosier Creek. The campground sits at an altitude of 9,700 feet and features mild summer temperatures and cool nights.

## Charges & Cancellations

 Cancellations Individual Campsites: Cancellations up to 2 days before a reservation start date incur a $10.00 cancellation fee. A visitor who cancels a reservation the day before or on the day of arrival will pay a $10.00 service fee AND forfeit the first night's use fee including tax and applicable add-on for a campsite. Cancellations for a one-night reservation will forfeit the entire amount paid and will not be subject to an additional service fee. No-Shows A no-show visitor is one who does not arrive at a campground and does not cancel the reservation by check-out time on the day after the scheduled arrival date. Staff will hold a campsite until check-out time on the day following the arrival date. No-shows are assessed $20.00 service fee and forfeit the first night's rate, taxes and applicable add-on for a campsite. Refunds Visitors may submit a refund request through their Recreation.gov profile within 7 days of the end date of their reservation. Refunds will not be issued after the 7 days has ended. Refunds for debit or credit card payments will be issued as a credit to the original bank or credit card used to pay. For check or cash purchases, Recreation.gov will mail a Treasury check for refunds of cash, check, or money order payments to the address associated with the reservation. Treasury check refunds may take up to 6-8 weeks to arrive. In the event of an emergency closure, the Recreation.gov team or facility manager will refund all fees and will attempt to notify you using the contact information within the Recreation.gov visitor profile.

The Best Camping Near Jefferson, Colorado

Visit this campground in early spring! We practically had the campground to ourselves! 

Word of caution, it did unexpectedly hail for about 20 mins but we had our camper and could seek shelter. 

There are pit toilets and a water station. Campground host came by... frequently... he seemed lonely but was nice.  

Great ATV trails close by, just respect the signs and limits. 

If you visit in summer or early fall, expect this site to be full. 

Awesome in off season

On top of the world it seems. Lots of animals in camp that cruise by. Mainly elk n moose..bighorn sheep too down the road.. Fishing and trails..nice sceneries..

Beautiful 

This campground is not far off the main road and is easy to access with any vehicle. I was there on a Saturday and it still had open spots, but was mostly full. The vault toilet was very clean. The hosts kept it well stocked with toilet paper and they checked in with groups daily. Really good views and hiking spots. Pretty much no cell service (occasionally a text would make it through) and good tent pads or spots to put tents and campers. Noticed a few people had trouble finding flat parking for RVs and vans. The mosquitos weren't bad at all, and the biting flies were manageable with bug spray. The traffic going in to Denver was visible in just a few spots, but out in the distance. Many sites or close together sites would be great for groups. Lots of shade and places for a hammock. 

  

 The down side is the road noise. Especially because this is close enough to the highway on a downgrade, so you can hear the trucks downshifting throughout the day and night. But with that in mind, I would go back. The location was convenient and we had a good time.

Good views and spaces

Camped September 24 - 27. First come first served sites. 31 sites, had the place to ourselves. Wild turkeys and Steller Jays. Well maintained. Some shooting in the distance. Very serene otherwise.
