Stopped For The Views!

I made a stop knowing there was to much snow in the area to actually stay but I wanted to see what Monarch had to offer when it wasn't ski season and I was so pleased with the campground itself. It was small, but that was perfect for what I like and I will have to check soon my next trip when the ground isn't needing to thaw.

Sites were sheltered slightly by bushes it looked like and I noticed at the kiosk that there were several trails that ran through or near the site.

There are vault toilets so that is pretty normal for this kind of campground.

So what use is a campground when it is closed for winter? Views!! Lots of amazing views and with the snow it makes for those pictures you love and think of with Colorado in mind! As a travel blogger, I always can find the upside even on a scouting mission for something for the future.

Tips:

  • The peak season for this campsite is May through September, while you can visit until October weather often changes and it gets very cold at night.
  • Remember to always fuel up before trying to make the trip here the mountains will pull on your fuel and there are not many stops coming from Colorado Springs direction.
