Dry Gulch Campground is located near Gunnison in the [Curecanti National Recreation Area](https://thedyrt.com/camping/colorado/near/curecanti-national-recreation-area). The terrain consists of open spaces with sparse vegetation and rocky formations. Campers can experience temperatures ranging from 30°F in winter to 80°F in summer, and nearby attractions include the Blue Mesa Reservoir and the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park.

Dry Gulch Campground is located 17 miles west of Gunnison just north of U.S. Highway 50. The campground is shaded by large cottonwood trees and can accommodate tents or medium sized RVs. All sites are first-come first-served. A horse corral is available. Elevation: 7560 feet

The Best Camping Near Powderhorn, Colorado

No frills campground. No water. No amenities. But nice big shade trees to help give you some cover. There is trash and bathrooms. 

  

Make sure you bring bug spray, the mosquitoes can be relentless. 

  

The campground is tucked in a small gulch, helping to give relief from high winds. The lake is a short car drive away, quite a walk or mild bike ride. 

  

We had lots of room to lay out our car full of gear and reorganize. Would use again but not plan to stay more than a night if so. More of a great spot to stay while your exploring the area.

Simple but gets the job done

We have a tepui roof top tent , shade is helpful in a mornings with the sun! Clean and great surrounding scenery.

Perfect last minute camping spot 

This CG is the opposite world from Elk Creek CG.  Lots of large cottonwood trees shade all the sites. Best suited for the tenter crowd or small campers.  $20/$10 senior.
