The Best Camping Near Groveland, California

The campground has nice views, but wow, what a scary drive up a curvy mountainous road to get to it.  Most of the campground is clay dirt, so it's quite dusty and the RV spots are not paved.  They had a pool, but it was filled with rowdy children so we didn't go in.  The campground also has a pet wash we wanted to use, but it wasn't working.  There is also a random petting zoo, and I felt bad for the animals because it was quite small.  Their redeeming factor were the buses to Yosemite.  Although it was over an hour each way, we were thankful to have them since we only had our RV.

Our group stayed in a tent campsite for one night in August 2016. This was our first campsite for a 2 week national parks road trip. 

My biggest gripe with this campground is that it is not stated anywhere on their site that you cannot park your car in your campsite. At least for us, we had to park down a hill and walk up to our site. We spent our entire evening and the next morning walking back and forth, back and forth, back and forth anytime we needed something from the car. Having the car in the site is so so much better and all the other campgrounds we stayed at were set up that way. 

Additionally, the entire campground was incredibly dusty, more so than any other campground we stayed at during our trip. The bathrooms/showers were not very well maintained (quite dirty and dusty) although the stalls did all have toilet paper. It was also quite a walk from our tent site which was located in the back part of the campgrounds. 

Staff were generally helpful and they have everything you'd need in their office/general store (ice, firewood, snacks, etc). 

Overall, we were happy to have found a campground nearish Yosemite at the last min since most things book up really quickly inside the park, but I'm happy we didn't stay here more than one night.

The sites are small with 2 parking spaces, the bathroom were well maintained.

Each campsite contains a **fire ring**, **picnic table**, and a **food locker** and is near a **bathroom with drinking water and flushing toilets.**

Very nice campground, the prices are great and the bathrooms are very clean it is about 1 1/2 hrs from Yosemite however

Camping 

With a pool, petting zoo, a corral where they have a fire and s'mores followed by a movie, this is a great place to camp with the kids.

The showers are free and usually clean although on Saturday evening the campground was full and the bathrooms were dirty and out of TP.

There are tent sites, RV sites and cabins so something for everyone.

There were A LOT of stray cats on the property which kind of drove our dog crazy. But at least the campground is pet friendly.

If you plan to go into Yosemite NP, it's a long drive so plan accordingly. Our family really enjoys Rainbow Pools and Yosemite Pine's proximity to Rainbow Pools is part of why we stay here. The kids can jump and swim there and that's all they really want to do anyway so being close to that is key for us. So many of the places in the park where we used to get in the water do not allow swimming anymore.

Good Place for Kids

The tent sites were right on top of each other and there was nowhere to park. You had to climb a steep hill to get to them with your car and again to the actual spot. The people were awesome, the facilities were clean and the pool was refreshing. They have WiFi that works great, a store with ice, snacks, and food.

Tent sites are horrible

2 adults and 1 kid in the basic cabin over Easter weekend a few years ago. We really enjoyed our stay and the property. Petting zoo animals were adorable. Nice location to Yosemite. Friendly interactions with staff. 

Stayed in the basic cabins and loved it!

We stayed in a Yurt and it was absolutely amazing. We ended up coming in really late but they left our key for us. They were super accommodating. The Llamas were an absolute plus as well. We loved how close it was to the park. The price for the yurt was like $100 a night and when we split that up, it was nothing! 

LOVED IT

“Resort” might be an overstatement but it does have a pool, a few simple activities and a mostly nice staff (one lady was very rude and condescending when quoting the cancellation policy but this was remedied easily the next day by someone with better customer service skills), although it could use a little updating. Gravel roads make it dusty in the summertime. Views are not impressive for being close to Yosemite but it’s a decent base camp for trips into the park.

Overall, a pretty nice place

It was a great overnight stop for us on our way to Yosemite. No AT&amp;T cell service. Can get 1 hr of free wifi every 24hrs or pay for more wifi. The park is huge with a lot to do and different camping accommodations for all types. Easy asphalt roads throughout campground in the pines. Sites are spacious from neighbors. Gravel/Dirt back in site but pretty level. Kind of pricey.

Good stop over 

Great option if your looking for full rv hookups. If you’re tent camping, this might not be the best place. Bathrooms were very unclean but the park gets the job done as a place to sleep while visiting Yosemite. No Verizon or T-Mobile coverage. Wifi available for purchase.

Great option if Yosemite’s full

We were a bit disappointed by our trip to Yosemite Pines. It has all of the facilities and potential to be amazing, but it felt a bit run down and like it wasn't taken care of properly. The bathrooms and showers were not clean, which is a shame because they are nice and spacious. We were also in a tent site with only one other person in our loop (We were loop A) and we felt a bit uncomfortable with it being so open. It would be nice if there was a barrier of trees or something at the back of the loop because it felt very open to the road and as if anyone could walk up. Maybe it was just us, but it just made us feel very uneasy. It also didnt help when we were woken up at 2am with the sounds of footsteps outside the tent. We think in the end it was an animal, but it definitely sounded like human footsteps which was very unnerving. It was a great location for Yosemite, a bit far away, but a good base camp especially when Yosemite is full.

Overall Average

Overall a good camping area. Sites are kinda close to each other so if you have loud neighbors you can easily hear them. Facilities on site were well kept. Only a 20-25 min drive to Yosemite. Pretty cold in October as expected.

Not located in the Yosemite Park (we made that mistake). 20-30min drive to Yosemite Park.

Camping friendly

Camp sites are very close together. Facilities could use some updating. I didn't like that they charge for a weak wifi. All in all though, not a bad place but I might try another if we come back to Yosemite some day.

First time to Yosemite 

FHU and Electric/water sites. Also has cabins, yurts, covered wagons you can rent. Has pool, playground and petting zoo.  Well kept and easy to work with

Close to Yosemite

We arrived here at 2 am. If called ahead to let them know and they said they’d put their reservation info on the front office door with my name. When we arrived, we were able to easily find the reservation, the space and get hooked up. I’m the morning we saw how nice the property was and speak with all the friendly staff. Loved it!

Friendly, fun and convenient

Great option for bringing an RV to Yosemite. Calistoga Wagons were plenty warm as lows dipped into the 30s. Staff was very friendly. Cell service was non-existent - but such is life in the mountains. Resort had a surprisingly fun trail hike around the perimeter. Perfect for an outing with young kids. Petting farm was a big hit too with the kids. 

Great gateway to Yosemite

We stayed at Yosemite Pines while my husband worked a job from Jan - Mar in Groveland. Was amazing to have this HUGE campground all to ourselves! The sites are really big. Beautiful trees, paved roads for biking or scootering, hooting owls in the trees, huge unusual pine cones, a nature trail that goes to an old gold mine. Really special place. We had to relocate to a hotel every 28 days due to the max 28 day rules in CA (if campgeound is not zoned for long term campers, visitors can only stay 28 days at a time). There are laundry facilities on site. My only complaint is the rotting picinic tables. I also wish there was a rec room or something where we could all hang out during heavy rain or snow storms.

I would give Yosemite Pines RV Park a zero-star rating if I could, following the disastrous and wholly dissatisfactory experience my fiancée and I had during our recent stay. We booked a 10-day stay at this RV campsite, expecting a relaxing, enjoyable vacation. Instead, we encountered an unprofessional and discourteous staff, led by a manager, Carmella Hoeft, who was as unaccommodating as she was rude. From day one, we felt dismissed and looked down upon, with our concerns and requests met with dispassion and disinterest. The situation worsened when the entire campground lost power during a period of triple-digit heat. The staff provided no resolution or contingency plan. Their lack of compassion and their refusal to offer a refund for our prematurely terminated stay were both shocking and unacceptable. We were also left severely disappointed by their substandard amenities. Their on-site washing machines, in a sorry state of disrepair, ruined over$200 worth of my fiancée's clothing. To add insult to injury, not only did the staff refuse to refund us for the damage, they also didn't offer to refund the cost of using the faulty machines. Frustrated, we paid out of pocket to relocate due to the unbearable heat and lack of power. The management promised a follow-up communication after supposedly"discussing with corporate," but this communication never materialized. Our final grievance occurred after we had left the campsite due to the unfavorable conditions. A package that was delivered after our departure became the subject of an outrageous demand from the manager, Carmella. She requested a$50 Venmo transfer plus the postage fees to simply forward the package to us. In conclusion, Yosemite Pines RV Park demonstrated a lack of basic human humility, compassion, and hospitality during our ill-fated stay. Despite the exorbitant fees charged for the stay, we found the park to be ill-maintained and malfunctioning, the staff unprofessional, and the overall experience thoroughly regrettable. We strongly advise potential visitors to think twice before booking their stay here. Yours in disappointment,

Save your money. A Deplorable Experience at Yosemite Pines RV Park

We enjoyed our stay here while on a three week trip from our home in PA to the West Coast. There was a high volume of campers and it seemed they struggled a bit to keep up with the bathrooms but place more blame on people's poor manners in cleaning up after themselves. Definitely recommend! 

Great place to stay!

It wasn’t as nice as the photos depicted. Water shortage? The grasses were long and dried up, there appears to have been a wooden bridge as a shortcut to the pool/restroom/laundry room/Deli, but no longer. The restrooms were barely tolerable and the woman’s had a bad odor. There’s a dishwashing station that is no longer serviceable, just a stainless sink set in a covered table with no water or even plumbing to include drains.
You have to pay for WiFi and sometimes the signal drops. For the cost of the campground the WiFi should be free! Lesser known campgrounds even have free WiFi. There are Conestoga Wagons, Cabins and Yurts. None were occupied. Reason?


Going downhill ?

Comfortable camping with a lot of amenities and so many trails and places to explore. Beautiful area and campgrounds.
