Cozy and private but be aware of the steep dirt access road

*Note: This site may only be accessed through Tentrr

I used a gift certificate awarded from one of the camping review contests to book this site. This was our third Tentrr Stay and each one has unique characteristics. This one is nestled in the trees overlooking a beautiful working winery in Paso Robles, CA, however, I did not realize before booking that the access to the tent was up a steep dirt road. Paloma (the camp keeper) thought this was included in the description but when I re-visited the site, I did not see this information. We arrived around 4:30 pm and quickly realized it would be problematic to get our van up the road to the tent (and I guess it would be much worse if the road was muddy after a rain). We thought we would carry our bedding, food, and cooking supplies up the hill but in the end, decided that staying in our campervan on level ground would end up working better for us. Paloma was very gracious and flexible in allowing this. Once this was decided, we settled in for some wine tasting, and the wines, although not inexpensive, were very good, and we decided to purchase a bottle of our favorite.

We did not meet the friendly dog described on the website but did see four of the five cats wandering around. Also note that because the tent was surrounded by trees, the bugs were definitely more present!

As a Coleman Outfitted site, some of the extras included were a cooler, grill, camp chairs, fire pit, and outdoor shower but you have to supply your own cooking utensils and cookware.

Of the three Tentrr sites we have stayed in (in three different states), two were booked using award certificates. In each, the camp keepers were welcoming, and we enjoyed our stays. However, in all honesty, the price for this type of glamping can get expensive (from$160 for this one) and we likely would spend the money on a hotel with flush toilets, laundry, and showers in the future instead of this type of accommodation. Also, the Tentrr website is, in my opinion, can be a bit clunky to navigate.
