Meadowview Campground

This US Forest Service campground provides free camping year-round at 5,500 feet elevation within Stanislaus National Forest. The facility includes drinking water, restrooms, and trash service, though one reviewer notes the bathrooms need attention and sites sit close together. Traffic noise from Highway 108 carries into the camping area.

Open terrain near a lake offers fishing opportunities, while a camp store provides basic supplies. The no-pets policy limits some visitors. Cell service reaches the area, and alcohol is permitted. For additional options, campers can explore campgrounds around Long Barn or check out nearby Pinecrest Campground. The combination of free camping and forest service amenities works well for budget-conscious campers who don't mind road noise.

Great place!

I had a great time! I definately went on an off time as I think there were only a few other people at the campground. Some sites would be really close together if it was full.

It was a great retreat out in nature! Many bathrooms and they were all clean. No cell service however a five minute drive down the hill can have you at full bars if needed. There was lots of shade as every campsite was absolutely surrounded by trees.

2.5 to be exact

This place is barely worth the fee. Overall the grounds are neglected, bathrooms are sketchy, and sites are crammed together. Traffic noise from CA108 is also a bumr. But it is 5500' up in the beautiful Stanislaus National Forest, so it's got that going for it... 2.5/5
