The Best Camping Near Kernville, California

This campground never lets me down. I’ve been here 3 times now, and every time I’ve encountered friendly faces, clean amenities and fun activities for everyone! From movie night to arts and crafts, you can explore the river or enjoy relaxing by the beach, it has something for everyone. Thank you Frandy! 

Every time 

Dry camping on the Kern River!  Has showers and is walking distance to Kernville park and town stores and restaurants.  

This campground is known for the epic live music weekend parties and events!  

It can get very packed and some spaces are way to close together.  If you can snag a river front spot, it’s great!

On the river

From initial contact to our departure the staff was very helpful and friendly. The ambiance of this RV Campground is amazing! We were in one of the electric sites but still close enough to hear the river when we had the vents and window open. We well for sure be visiting here again! 
There are toilets and showers available. They have wagons they rent as cabins which are so cute! WiFi available but weak signal. A majority of the sites are dry camp and on the Kern River while the electric sites are in the middle of the park. They have snacks for sale in the front office and Beverly will gladly provide information about the local area for shopping. Dump station on site. This town has so many cool stores and shops but if relaxing next to the water is your desire, this is the place for you! 

Beautiful and Serene 

The only nice campsites are the ones next to the river. Sites are too close together so don’t count on getting any privacy. The general store and bathrooms are convenient though.

Nice place downtown Kernville. Looks like summer is all about rafting. Spent one night on way back from Death Valley. Will be back. Didn’t use bathrooms. 


On the Kern River 

I go camp at Frandy campgrounds once a year in October. It’s a wonderful camp ground, very large and well
maintained. Some sites are appropriate for RV with electrical hook ups. I always camp near the river, there are plenty of walk ways to get down there to relax. It’s enjoyable to be able to walk into town to have a drink or enjoy a bite to eat if you don’t want to cook at your campsite. I love this camp ground, it’s a great spot for the family. You can even rent a covered wagon to stay the night if you don’t want to tent camp.

Located in Kernville - has a small store, showers, dispersed chemical toilets. Premium sites by the River are nice with plenty of shade from cottonwood trees.  Commercial campground conveniently affiliated with rafting company on site.  Friendly staff.  Close to brewery, gas station, groceries in town.  Good place for first timers to get to know the area.
