## Overview

 Fir Group Campground sits near Hume Lake in the Sequoia National Forest, amidst pines and at an elevation of 5,250 feet. Hume Lake was built to support a one-time commercial logging operation, and sits in the Kings River Watershed, a region of the Sierra Nevada mountains replete with vast stands of timber. 
## Recreation

 Visitors can enjoy trout fishing, swimming, non-motorized boating, hiking and mountain biking on 87-acre Hume Lake. There are also several hiking paths along the lake.
## Natural Features

 The Sequoia National Forest, located at the southern end of the Sierra Nevada in central California, takes its name from the giant sequoia, the world's largest tree, which grows in more than 30 groves on the Forest's lower slopes. The Forest comprises about 1.1 million acres, and elevations range from about 1,000 to 12,000 feet, creating precipitous canyons and mountain streams with spectacular waterfalls such as Salmon Creek Falls and Grizzly Falls.

The Best Camping Near Hartland, California

This campsite was huge! Stayed here for 4th of July weekend. I booked it for about 35-40 people and it was perfect. There were 4 food lockers and 2 shelves (only 1 had a lock but it didn’t seem secure). Plenty of benches for everyone to sit and eat. The vault toilets were clean. Also, there’s 2 faucets—1 by the benches and 1 by the restroom. There are 4 restroom stalls. There is one huge trash bin near the entrance of the campsite.

  

I love that it was 30-40 minutes away from General Sherman going Southbound and Hume Lake and General Grant going Northbound. Also, across the street is Stony Creek Lodge which has a gas station!

  

This site is in Sequoia National Park, so you have to pay or use an annual national parks pass to enter.

In the middle of SNP

Great location with store and restaurant a short walk away. Lake Hume not far away. Sites are normal National Forest small so no big rigs and no hookups, very popular and busy when we were there
