Cold Creek is located near Sierraville in the Tahoe National Forest. The terrain consists of forested areas with creeks and open spaces. Temperatures range from 30°F in winter to 85°F in summer. Nearby attractions include the Sierra Hot Springs and the scenic views of the Sierra Valley.

## Overview

 Cold Creek Campground is located on Highway 89, 4.5 miles south of Sierraville, California. The facility\_\_location makes Cold Creek a great base camp for a variety of recreational activities, including fishing, hunting, hiking and biking. This is a small campground recommended for tent camping and small campers. Large RVs will not be able to make the turnaround exit at this facility. There are a couple of hike-in sites within this campground that share a small parking area toward the back of this facility. This facility is operated and maintained by the Tahoe National Forest.
## Recreation

 Cold Creek offers rainbow trout fishing and swimming. Cottonwood Creek Botanical Trail and Overlook Trail both begin at nearby Cottonwood Creek Campground. 
## Natural Features

 The campground lies in a meadow between Cold Creek and Highway 89. Jeffrey pine and white fir trees cover half the campground, while the other half is situated closer to the creek among cottonwoods, willow and aspen trees. 
## Nearby Attractions

 Lake Tahoe is conveniently close, only 35 minutes away. Tahoe offers excellent boating, kayaking, fishing, hiking and scenic driving opportunities. Sardine Lakes, and the beautiful Lakes Basin is a 35-minute drive northwest via the Golden Chain/Highway 49. Stampede Reservoir is a 45-minute drive southeast.

The Best Camping Near Sierraville, California

I really liked this campground. The sites were roomy and not too close to your neighbors. The bathrooms have flush toilets and running water. They are kept very clean. Great location! The back of the campground is the trailhead to Duck Lake Pass. Only a few miles to the town of Mammoth. Only reason it did not get 5 stars is because there are no showers.

Great Place for a few days

It was a level site and had had shade. It also was next to a rather busy highway with lots of logging trucks. No cell signal (Verizon). 

Eh...

This is a small campground that , for my liking is too close to the road. The sites, however are quite nice and not too close together. The creek next to the campground has some pools that will reward and angler using nymphs.

I went midweek in late July and there was only one other occupied site.

Note that about a mile down the road is a larger campground that is further from the road and has som good hiking trails.
