big meadows horse camp

I’ve camped here before, but not since it has been taken over by the BackCountry horsemen - San Joaquin Sierra unit. My daughter and I took our two younger horses - the corrals are clean and perfect. There were four trailers already there, but we found a fantastic back in spot that fit my travel trailer truck and her truck and horse trailer. Jack was the camp host this week. He came to visit and explain the process. This is donations only. There is a creek nearby to draw water for the horses but the horses can’t go into the creek. The bathroom is very clean. No running water or electricity so you need to be fully self contained. If you plan on having any type of fire - you need a permit. If you don’t get one prior to arriving the camp host can help you. We had a great two days - other than the mosquitos that wanted to carry us away.
