Managed by the BackCountry Horsemen of California's San Joaquin Sierra unit, Big Meadows Horse Camp runs on a donations-only model with a rotating camp host on site to orient arriving groups. Corrals are maintained and clean, and a nearby creek provides a water source for horses, though horses are not permitted to enter the creek directly. No running water or electricity means self-contained rigs are a requirement. Fire permits are mandatory and can be arranged through the camp host if not obtained in advance. Buck Rock Campground sits just north for campers who don't need equestrian facilities.
