Wahweap Campground & RV Park — Glen Canyon National Recreation Area

The Best Camping Near Page, Arizona

Campground overlooks Lake Powell. Many loops for electric and non-electric. Clean bathrooms for each loop with flush toilets, sinks, and water refill stations. There is a main store, laundry facilities, and showers at the registration office. Nice location with several comforts. Each site has a fire ring with grate and picnic table.

While in the Page area we took in a kayak tour and walking tour of the Antelope Valley slot Canyon and Horseshoe Bend.

The Kayak tour at 6:30AM is highly recommended. We booked through Hidden Kayak Tours. We launched, kayaked through the slot, portaged and hiked into the canyon. On the way back our guide offered a free swim and rock jumping into Lake Powell. Using the public boat launch at Antelope Point you could easily navigate to the Canyon on your own with a little map knowledge

The Navajo tour through the Antelope Valley slot Canyon was crowded but worth it. There were several points to take family pictures but you had to keep moving. There is a newly build structure at the beginning so you don’t have to wait in the scortching sun to enter the canyon. There are several stairs with railings to navigate the canyon.

Horseshoe Bend is free and full of tourists. It looks like the NPS is working on improvements. The parking lot, portapotties and walk to the overlook could all use some TLC. The view once you get there is worth the short hike.

Great view, multi-use, many amenities. 

This is a great RV Park. The location is superb. The space between sites is very generous. Interior roads are very easy to navigate for big rigs. Very quiet at night. This place is designed right. Site was big enough for our 40 foot 5th wheel. The views of Lake Powell were awesome! The campground is maintained very well. Wifi is almost useless and there is no cable. Due to the location there are no TV channels with antennas. My only reason for not giving it five stars was the staff in the camp store/ registration. We have been to many campgrounds and the staff in the camp store were some of the worst we have ever dealt with. They do not greet you or smile. If you ask a question you will get an answer that is probably incorrect. They do not try to help or explain anything. We camped at Wahweap RV and Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

very basic campsite but the views are amazing. It might be more fun to pack your gear on a boat and find canyonside beaches to camp on for free!

Nicely run campgound in Page. Very large, not much shade on the sites. Great camp/souviner shop and easy access to the lake. The views around the lake are weirdly breathtaking. Clean showers you pay per minute to use and decent amount of toilets through campground.

Out of this world

This is by far one of the best campgrounds when it comes to the sites. They are amazing! You'll get a great view of the Lake and the sites are well maintained. The only thing that is a bummer, is that you actually have to go to the shop/reception to go take a shower. Those are the only ones they have and half of them didn't even work. Apart from that it's a great spot.

Amazing views and sites

While the Wahweap Campground wins the most scenic view award, hands down, we were all upset about the showers. 

Throughout our week of RVing we never once had to pay to use the shower, as we are already paying a fee to stay at the park and use the amenities, why make poor travelers cough up $2 to shower? Because of the fee, we were all (all 5 women I was traveling with) expecting it to be the best shower of our trip, but it wasn't. Also... what kind of traveler has $2 in quarters laying around? Just hope that the office is open so you can exchange for quarters.

Their shop is gorgeous and has a wonderfully wrapped "Smores Kit" for purchase, as well as the firewood we needed to roast our Smores. There are ample trails and great places to go explore down to the water and around the area, but be careful, don't go barefoot because the place is covered in stickers. 

The campsites are nice and spacious with lots of trees, bushes and paved roads and paths to all of the restrooms.

Best View Award!

Loved staying here one night while we visited Antelope Canyon. Could imagine staying another night if we‘d had plans for activities on the lake. Arrived late and our campsite info was posted on the store’s door. Easy to find, big campsites, well laid-out. Clean, large bathrooms near campsite and showers at the general store. Met cute kids who enjoyed their day on the lake. Saw one woman who was sunburnt worse than I’ve ever seen... Wear sunscreen and reapply all day, people!!! Beautiful sunrise in the morning. Obviously it’s the desert so minimal to no shade. I recommend going for the sunset at horseshoe bend nearby - it’s a short uphill hike.

All the essentials

Lake Powell is beautiful. We stopped here for one night on our way north. We easily could have stayed longer. Nice store, fishing, swimming.

Great stopover!

The tent campground is fairly basic, but they have a picnic table and fire ring, nice restrooms and a beautiful view of Lake Powell. There are also showers and laundry machines at the registration building. I would definitely stay there again!

Beautiful scenery!

Wahweap CG was a great roadtrip stop with access to Lake Powell, but in the heat of the sun it was a bummer to not have really any shade at all.  Every campsite was a bit exposed and there is not much privacy between camps.  That said there were restrooms, water, and trash that were all convenient.

  

There was a nice convenience store and gift shop at the campground check-in location.

  

I would stay here again, but will probably try other Lake Powell campsites first

Great Lake Access but no Shade

Beautiful to wake up right next to the lake and surrounding hills, clean amenities and even some charging ports nearby. Perfect location for hiking in Utah, or seeing nearby sites

We stayed here three nights in the midst of the COVID-19 crisis and found a quiet haven. This is very pricey but clean. We enjoyed the location and explored Page and the beautiful sites around this lovely town. Again, very pricey so if your budget conscious, pass on by. 

Beautiful views

The most expensive campground you will ever visit. And for all that moolah, you get cold water bathrooms and shower facilities you have to pay extra for. Went to use the shower facility and discovered you have to buy special tokens to use it. Then discovered the token machine was out of service. Camp store closes at 4:00 so no luck there. Grrr. You have to pay a fee just to get into the campground area. Better off with a motel.

Very pricey.

Location: excellent proximity to the Grand Canyon, Horseshoe Bend and Antelope Upper &amp; Lower Slot Canyons. Within approximately 1 hour to each. The campground is situated on Lake Powell with breath taking views. 15 minute drive from Page, Arizona which offers lots of tourism activities, shopping etc.

Park:
Well run resort, very clean, very nice. Each concrete pad was level and well positioned for a beautiful view of the lake. There is great spacing between sites. There are several loops to spread everyone out and limit traffic from other loops. They have lots of walking and biking trails. Access to the lake and docks, and boat storage.

Sites: Each site has a level concrete pad and full hook ups and an incredible view of the lake.

Cellular: ok T-Mobile, we couldn’t stream videos but Facebook, email, calling we’re all able to be utilized.

I love this campground! We’ve stayed here twice before! It has pretty much everything! Lake access boat rentals, proximity to Bryce, Zion, Grand Canyon, Antelope Canyon, Horseshoe... it’s always clean and friendly. I love that they are spaced out. In the age of streaming, I only wish the WiFi was better. We’ve camped here twice and can’t wait to come back.  Even if it’s pricy it’s worth every penny!

Wish we could stay all summer 

Unbelievable views of Lake Powell with beach dispersed camping sites for tents and rvs. Great place to relax and boat, kayak, canoe, fish, swim, hike and 4-wheel. Only downside is that the beach is very very sandy making it a little hard to walk around in and difficult to drive in so 4 wheel drive is a must, in my opinion, and when the wind blows be prepared to eat your dinner with a little sand in it. Other than that...awesome experience. We camped for 3 days in a tent and canoed and fished our way around the lake and had a blast. Very close to bathrooms and trails and just far enough away from other campers.

Desert Oasis

Campground has basically no shade. Good level pads and medium sized sites. Showers at the general store are way above average for campgrounds. 

Lots of ants, and see again no shade... come prepared for desert!

Hot, but fun

No shade anywhere, but nice clean bathrooms. Not a fan of having to pay to shower, but seems popular and walking distance to the beach. Slow wifi!!

Wahweap is lucky that it is in one of the most beautiful places on Earth- Lake Powell! If it weren't for the incredible scenery this campsite would not be worth the money. There is little to no shade, and every camp site is extremely exposed, meaning no privacy from your neighbors. We were tent camping and next to a very loud RV generator- makes for a less than serene setting. That being said, the sunsets and location make Wahweap work it. The location is so close to all the best areas Glen Canyon has to offer, and the views are amazing

Great views and great campsites. The tent sites include a sandy pad for your tent, picnic table, fire ring, camp fire grill, and parking space. Bathrooms are close to the campsites and were clean. Only downside to the campground is the campsites are a little close to each other. Camp store stocked with beer, wine, food, coffee, t-shirts, and gear. Bring your own fire wood. Laundry and showers located at the store for a fee. Campground was crowded, so make sure to make a reservation. Simple reservation process on their website. Easy access to the lake, parking and a short walk to the swimming beach right accross the street from the store. Kayak and paddle board rentals available. Didn't have any luck with the wifi, but who needs wifi when camping?! Also didn't have any cell service, but again, who needs it? Campsite is dog friendly! 

Amazing campsite

This was not my first choice of campgrounds in the area, but proved to be the best for me! 

Most other grounds in the area are more primitive and the biggest challenge with that in this area (the desert) is lack of trees/ shade or having to deal with sandy roads, which I’d rather not fret over in my low clearance, 2wd car. 

Wahweap has paved roads and several loops on the grounds. Each loop has views of Lake Powell, but please note that the sites themselves are all on sand. Come prepared with a broom, because you’ll be tracking the sand into your tent each time! Also, you really hate having dirty feet, this may not be the place for you. Your feet will be covered in sand 24/7!

People seem to come and go on a nightly basis, so getting a site the “day of” shouldn’t be a problem if you weren’t able to book ahead of time. When I walked in on a Wednesday, I was given the option of about five different sites on one loop alone. Things *may be* different on a Friday or Saturday though, as many people bring their boats for a weekend romp. If you’d like to rent a watercraft (boat, jet ski, etc) while you’re here, you 100% should do that ahead of time.

It seems like all loops have a mix of tents and RVs/ campers. Each loop also has a bathroom with real plumbing toilets, sinks and electrical outlets. Really nice fire rings at each site! There are a few small trees on each loop, but not necessarily at every site, so check your site out before committing to ensure you’re able to have the shade coverage you desire.

There is a shower house located at the front of the grounds, next to the registration building/ camp store. Heads up that they are paid showers though!! There is also a mini laundromat in this same area, which was super convenient. The camp store is stocked with everything you’d need, but the prices are a bit crazy ($10 for firewood!), so load up on things in town if you can. 

Cell/ data service down on the campgrounds is spotty. I usually park at the Wahweap Overlook, about two miles away within the park, each night to use my phone for a bit. Also a great place to watch the sun rise or set!!

Bit expensive, but a full service site

We stayed here 2 nights on 10/4-10/5/20. Site B6. The campground was clean and quiet. It was a 10 minute walk to the marina or the beach. We rented a boat for the day at the marina. Cell service was ok. WIFI was terrible. Full hook ups. Good view of the lake. Would stay here again. 

Great time

We just stopped here to get a shower and laundry. The laundry room is open 24/7 with washers and driers teaming  quarters and a machine that gives tokens for showers. $2 gives you two tokens for a 8 min shower. Seemed to last even longer. Clean and single family units. The campground store was closed because it was Christmas Day. Campground looked pretty nice and full hook-up as well as tent sites options but we moved on to a more scenic site further north on the shore of the lake. 

Great option for shower and laubdry

Stayed in a RV for 2 nights. Absolutely amazing. You couldn’t pick a better spot to stay. Marina and beach is walking distance away. If your coming from the Midwest or anywhere not from the area, the scenic view of the lake and cliffs will blow your mind!

View of a lifetime 

Gorgeous setting and beautiful walks just outside of the campground. Unfortunately the high price which is seemingly irrespective of what site you have detracts as does a campground which, yes, has some sites with space and incredible views but also have some of the most packed in sites we’ve been to yet (and that’s saying something). In the spot we were in, you could reach out and touch your neighbor’s rig from your window leading to no privacy, little space, and unfortunately no views beyond the RVs around you.

Beautiful Scenery but Campground Layout (and price) Detracts

I just toured the facility, did not stay.  Seems like a typical big campground.$30 day no hookups, $68 day full hookups. Facility seems well maintained and clean.  Only three stars because I did not stay, so gave it a middle rating.  

Large typical CG

Nice camp ground if your looking to upgrade from primitive camping. They have nice hot showers which are coin operated. There is a general store in the middle of campground full of information about lake Powell and lots of supplies. 

Nice organized camping 

Your basic campground, tent sites, RV sites with full hook ups, walk in sites and some group sites.  Nice views of Lake Powell and the sandstone.  Close to Page if you need to stock up on anything go there.  Flush toilets and running water in bathrooms, which are cleaned daily.  Outdoor sink for dishes and water in tent sites.  There is one swim beach accessible from the campsite but it is 3/4 of a mile walk just from the beach parking lot and downhill on sand, not super fun to get to with a stroller, 2 toddlers, and all the beach gear.   Definitely would be a more fun location if you plan on renting a motor boat or jet ski otherwise it is hard to get much of a lake experience.  Make reservations online in advance!

This campground has excellent facilities and is well maintained. The lake is so low that its nearly a mile from campsite.

Long Haul to Lake

Check-in took a LONG time! Upon check-in, the staff member seemed very confused with questions we asked. Booking online said 25’-30’ RVs were allowed in the self contained RV/tent area, depending on the site. We knew we were taking a chance on not finding a fitting site with a 30’ rig. When asked if the site she assigned would accommodate our rig, she said “um I think so” then handed us a map with our number circled and tried to send us on our way. We asked her to please verify and it took some time and help from another team member to determine it wouldn’t fit. It took about 15 mins for this process and to eventually find a site we’d fit in. When asked where we could fill our freshwater tank, she replied “oh I didn’t charge you for that! Hang on!”  She thought we meant that we wanted a full hook up (none were available) and then proceeded to ask us for additional money. We clarified and asked where the dump station was and she said “but you just got here?!” 

Other than that process being less than ideal, the views are fantastic. We ended up with site 101 and had a perfect view of the lake from our windows. The walk to the beach is a little lengthy but worth it. Bathrooms were clean, laundry is cheap, and showers are $2 and token operated for 8 mins. 

One other thing, not the CG’s fault...I’ve never had so many people walk through a campsite before!!! It drove our dogs crazy! We even had men from across the road come over to collect dried/dead brush from our “yard”. And when I say our yard, I mean I could’ve reached out the window and touched them. Our site is close to the bathroom but instead of using the sidewalk or trail 10ft away, people walked right past us. We were sitting at our picnic table one night and had people stroll right on by about 5’ away, never even acknowledging us. 



Beautiful views, little privacy

Beautiful location, nice flat paved sites, good size sites, fire pit and grill! Problem was bad cell service, internet as well as having to pay for showers that didn’t work and 2/3 of the dryers in laundry didn’t work. Beautiful location for sunrise and sunset! 

Lacking amenities

Beautiful views. Fun place to camp and swim. But also very hot with very little shade. It was also a pretty long walk to get to the water. A bit pricey, but it is a National Park, so you have to except to pay more. 

So hot! Don't forget your sunscreen. 

We camped here for a few nights and had a really nice time. There is little shade at the campsites, but there are places you can go for shade. The laundry room is air conditioned and has outlets to charge devices. The people working in the store and check in were super friendly. Would definitely recommend if you need somewhere to camp at Lake Powell. 

Nice amenities and view

This spot is the premiere location for visiting Lake Powell with full amenities at your campsite.

The grounds are at the Southern end of the lake, close to Wahweap Marina, Stateline Boat Launch &amp; Wahweap rentals.

We visited at the start of the off-season in August and experienced a very quiet park at around 50% capacity.

The spots are spacious and offer nice room for campers. Sites are paved and level with thoughtful and easy access for back-ins. Clean picnic benches, fire rings and grill made it easy to enjoy the evenings within view of the lake.

We were in a full hookup site in Loop C and the hookups were very reliable. Lots of bathrooms scattered throughout the grounds. The front office made check in east and had a decent store for forgotten necessities or souvenirs.

A walk through the campground would lead to a beachfront pathway, but the walk is not short. Probably about a full mile considering the low water levels of the lake. Instead, to reach the water, I’d recommend Lone Rock beach just down the street off highway 89.

I also highly recommend doing a bit of research to understand this area and how the lake was created. There are some hidden gem spots nearby that can help to appreciate the area and avoid the crowds at the most popular places. Carl Hayden Visitor Center was closed during our visit due to Covid, but we are hoping to visit in the future. 

Overall price is a bit high, but we knew what to expect being so close to the lake with full hookups and within the park boundary.

A beautiful NPS campground

Whaweap camp is very nice. Regrouped after 8 days boondocking from Steamboat. 

Lake Powell is an amazing place.

Love the location great level spots.  Spots are expensive.  Cost makes sense in high season.  We are here in March and prices seem high.

Amazing Location - Expensive

My wife and I recently stayed here for a night and were very pleased.  Our spot was perfectly level which was awesome because we pulled in kinda late at sunset towing our Airstream.  Set up was a breeze as all hook-ups are conveniently located and in great shape.  Each spot has a fire pit and table, as well as a small charcoal grill.

This campground has great views of Lake Powell and the surrounding red cliffs and formations.  Sunrise was lovely the next morning.

For late arrivals, the registration office is closed but they post your name and site number on the door if you booked ahead.  If you didn’t reserved a spot, they have a list of available sites that you can assign yourself, and then return in the morning to pay.

Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for full hook-ups with great views.

4-Stars because it’s a little pricey.

Amazing Views on Lake Powell

$27. Clean bathrooms.  Shower extra but hot and clean (spray - not normal pressure). Goathead THORNS are everywhere in loop 3!  Do not camp here.   They will get into everything  - shoes carpet/rugs, camper and ruin your trip! 

Convenient to Page. Sparse - no shade. THORNS everywhere 

We stayed the first night in D32. Full hookups on a nice concrete pad. Clean, good power and water. The dump at the campsite was perfect. But my price with a senior discount was over $80. For that, I would expect cable and maybe an on-site pool. Little rich for my blood. 

The next day, we moved to a dry campsite, 4-105. This is boondocking with a picnic table. Not complaining about that at all as we prefer boondocking. But at $27 a night, still a little pricey. 

There’s access to a shower and laundry facility. (After 3 weeks in the road, we were desperate for laundry.)

On the plus, the view over Lake Powell was fantastic. We came here as we extended our road trip and I didn’t have a lot of campground research time. If I came back to this area, I would do more homework.

Clean park with plenty of full hookups near the lake. Each loop has a bathroom, no showers.  Will stay here again. 

Very nice park 

This was a great place to land for a number of days. We were at the sites with and without hook ups. The bathrooms were well maintained and conveniently located. The office and gift shop had everything you might need. The laundry was well maintained as well. Showers cost 2 tokens that were purchased in the laundry room which was open 24/7. The views were beautiful and it was a busy but didn’t feel crowded even though it was full to capacity.

Great view of the lake 

The campgrounds are gorgeous! With amazing views of the canyon and Lake Powell I couldn’t get enough. Only two annoying things: 1) they didn’t let us check in until 11:30 when we showed up at 10:30, but it seemed where we were out there was no one in the first place (the lady at the desk could’ve been nicer) 2. The showers are token operated and $2 gets you 8 minutes. Paid $30 to dry camp and still had to pay for showers. Other than that it was a beautiful place to stay. We even walked down about a mile to Lake Powell and took a dip by the boat launch after a sweaty day of hiking.

Great spot, slightly over priced

We stayed in a self contained RV or tent site. We arrived at 6PM and the store was closed and a sheet was posted with our name and site number that also informed us if we didn't check-in first thing the next day we would be considered as vacating and our stay canceled. Not only was the store closed very early but when we arrived the next morning we found the store was operating on Pacific time despite the near by Navajo nation and Utah being mountain time but that was not listed on any sign. The RV/tent  loops are very far from the camp store/welcome center. Showers are at the camp store building far away from the tent and contained sites which need it more than the full hookup sites. Showers are a process unto themselves, first the sheet and email confirmation said a 15 min shower but has been changed to 8 (understandable due to water shortages) so the signs need to be updated. You need small bills to get tokens to operate the showers then you have to buy 2 tokens for one 8 min shower. We chose to share a family shower and split time to save on the shower debacle. The campground is in a great location being close to Lake Powell, GC Dam, Page, and many other sites and hikes. Sites are roomy back in not pull through. Each loop has its own bathroom house.

Amazing Beautiful Campground 

The campground itself was clean and facilities well maintained. There is very little shade in the park and you have to drive to get down to the lake. Even if you stay at the resort, the water is so low it’s a HIKE down to the beach.

Great spot withing view of Lake Powell. Tent Campsites are spread out and have flat bordered area to set up. Most have there own table. Staff are great and the store is well stocked.

Nice area nice campground 

We stayed for two nights and weren't very happy.

The location is great, but the employees were unmotivated, unfriendly and slow. The prices for hull hockup are high with $88 a night. We went for a dry site for $30 which is fair. WiFi isn't working, showers cost extra and the only store closes at 4pm. Park fee of $30 would apply if you don't have the pass.
I think there are better alternatives for a nice stay.

Amazing view of lake Powell! 

This is a decently large campsite for all types of vehicles tucked in nice about a half mile from the lake. Large campsites that were pretty well spread out. 

There was laundry and showers here, but I wouldn't count on the showers working with warm water. I took a 9 minute shower and the whole time it was freezing cold. 

Nice hosts and shop for the campsite though.

I’ve stayed at this campground, which is located in Glen Canyon National Recreation Area and run by Aramark, twice. The views are exceptional and that’s why I’ve paid the nearly $100 a night to stay there.

The campground is lovely  - concrete pads that are nicely spaced. Each site has a table, grill, and campfire ring. Each loop has its own bathroom. There is a campground store with showers and a cash only laundromat that is located very near the lower loops, but might be more of a drive for campers who in the higher loops. 

The issue with this campground is that the store closes at 5pm and if you arrive afterwards, you aren’t getting your tokens for the shower (so you have to pay) or the WiFi password. You are just getting the view - and it’s magnificent!

It’s important to note you are paying a resort fee when you camp here and I think (but might be wrong) that entitles you to using the resort’s pool. The location is super close the beach, the Glen Canyon Dam, and boat rentals.

Large campground with great facilities. We got here late on a road trip and hadn't made a reservation but were advised to pick a spot that wasn't taken or reserved and just register in the morning. Which is what we did. It ended up being a great spot with amazing views of the lake and a perfect base to see everything that Page had to offer. We ended up staying 2 nights. Dry camping was $30 a night. I could see us staying here again for a longer visit to Page.

L’endroit est magnifique! Nous sommes arrivés à une heure tardive et cela n’a pas posé de problème. A l’accueil, une feuille indique les places vacantes pour la soirée, il suffit d’indiquer son nom sur la place que l’on a choisi et de venir régler le lendemain matin.

Awesome RV Park with Full Hook Ups!

We stayed one night here dry camping in June of 2021.  The site was mostly level, had a picnic table and fire ring.  The views of Lake Powell were amazing and we were able to get a site last minute with no reservation.  It was quite warm when we arrived but cooled off nice at night and we had a good breeze through the trailer.

Everything was clean and we loved the showers and bathrooms! The bathrooms were nicely designed so people could change comfortably and get ready in the morning/evening with large counters. 

We also loved the outdoor sinks that had space to put dishes down as needed. And loved how long the showers were for the price!

Stayed here in October and it was pretty quiet, not many campers.  It is located on Lake Powel, has a marina, boat ramps and swimming area. There is a store, pay laundry and pay showers. The restrooms are clean and there is a community sink to wash dishes. Really enjoyed our one night stay. I imagine it’s pretty busy in the summer. There are no large trees, it’s high desert foliage. There are small trees that provide a small amt of shade.
