Know before you go! Be aware extreme winter weather or flooding risks can necessitate the closure of forest roads at different times of the year. Many forest roads that lead to dispersed campsites may be closed during seasonal road closures, so please check the Forest Road Status web page for more information about the status of forest roads in each District.

Fire restrictions may be in place. During fire restrictions, campfires, fires, and charcoal fires are not permitted in dispersed camping areas. The Best Camping Near Pine, Arizona

This is an amazing site that's about 18 miles from Knoll Lake.  Spectacular View of the valley below. 

1,000' +/- Up along Mogollum Rim

Easy 20 min drive on FR 300 off of route 87. SUV or above can handle it. Enough room for two cars. Fantastic views of the rim, and the sunrise was absolutely incredible. Making this my go to spot for Mogollon rim camping.

The view was absolutely stunning and depending on where you stop you won’t be next to any campers but once you turn onto rim road it gets a little bumpy but doable with any car

Loved this spot! A ton of pull offs to choose from and far enough away from other campers. I had service there with AT&amp;T. It gets cold- low of 30s and windy

Breathtakingly Peaceful

We arrived around noon on Friday, and within an hour or two there were two others who arrived--but thankfully turned around to find another spot.  The views were extraordinary as we parked the Land Cruiser with the Roofnest in the ideal spot to not just soak up the afternoon and evening views, but to be blessed by a great sunrise from inside the tent.

  

The stars... I mean, wow!  The starry sky at night was one of the best we've see anywhere, just stunning.

  

Felt very safe in the area for our 3 year old boy to explore with us, so if you expect any sheer cliffs or dangerous drop-offs, they aren't really there.  There were gradual declines from the top, and they aren't immediately near where you'd park.

  

We will be back--this was a real gem... but expect wind throughout the night being this exposed!

What a great dispersed camp site! Do not pull of at the first site. Keep driving along the rim and you’ll find the perfect spot for you with an amazing view.

Tons of spots all along rim road doable in most any cars. If you continue along you can find some really cool spots that overlook the rim. One of my favorite spots!
