To enter the BLM area you drive down Ghost Town Road until it turns to dirt. Approx. 1/4 mile down the dirt road you’ll see a green sign to “Pioneer Cemetery”. Turn right onto this road and you are in the camping area (you’ll see small signs listing 14-day camping permitted). The camping area stretches from the beginning of this road to a dead end near the back (probably only around a mile or so further down) with several dirt roads off to the sides leading to smaller sites.

Congress

The Best Camping Near Congress, Arizona

This area is fairly big. We arrived on a Sunday and there were a good amount of campers around who seemed to have been there for a while. The area is very close to residential areas, but some spots still feel pretty secluded. We took the first right off the cemetery road and drove all the way down to a nice little clearing. The sunrise/sunset is awesome. It’s close to ghost town road but that road doesn’t seem to be incredibly crowded, which is nice. No facilities or anything, but a nice area to camp just to get away and camp out for a day or so. Our site had 4G LTE, but just a few steps down the road was no connection so if you’re looking for a spot with service just drive around and you’ll find one.

Primitive 

This is a relatively small BLM dispersed camping area. There’s maybe 20 sites depending on the the type of vehicle you drive. There are definitely some high clearance vehicle only areas but we were able to find a nice spot in our Winnebago next to the base of the hills. There are no services here, it is strictly dry camping. There is s cemetery right next to the area, a little weird but they didn’t make much noise. There are plenty of hills to hike around on and there are some old mines in the area but be cautious, there are arsenic warning signs in some and it appears some mining is still going on. Great sunsets and star filled nights.

Off road trails that can also be used for running/hiking. Numerous sites the further back you go. Some need higher clearance to get to. Water for .25 a gallon at the Uhaul in town. Gas station and family dollar within walking distance if you take the trails.

Relaxing boondock 

We had no trouble finding a site out here. We were close to the cemetery with great views of the sunset. There is plenty space and lots of good sites to choose from. Seemed like a lot of permanents folks out here but everyone was quiet and respectful as far as we could tell. Great stop on our way to Phoenix. 

Lots of sites, close to town

Easy to find, and semi-easily accessible for our 34 footer. The road is a little bumpy, but it’s a very short drive to the first pull off. There is a cemetery on the same road, but you can easily camp a decent amount away from it. Just a forewarning if thats not your vibe though 😂 we walked a dried river bed and found lots of cool rocks and smooth river glass. 

An easy/quick pull off 

Nice spot but not quite until dark.  This area had a fair number of jets going
 overhead when we arrived in the afternoon.  Lots of places to pull trailers and RVs of all sizes.  Road gets bumpier as you drive back.

This area is hard sand, many winding roads with secluded spots to camp and lots of green in between so quite private. However, with all that said, people seemed to want to camp all around ME! BUMMER! There are two cemeteries to explore. An old one with gravestones from liked 1902 and the other is more modern but it still has many old graves. I had cell coverage Verizon 2-3 bars most times but sometimes in and out, especially in the evening. I stayed 12 days. Went to Wickenburg to Fast Mart dump and get water,  Safeway for groceries, and West Plaza Green Laundry right across the street from the Safeway and the Fast Mart is just a quarter mile down the road. Really convenient!

Beautiful Sandy Location

Easy access for midsized trailers. Larger trailers need to stick by graded road. Views are spectacular.

Title says it all. So many spots on a Friday. Dont be scared to drive around to find a spot. Verizon had about 2 bars of service for texting and calling. Some internet browsing.
