Description
Saguaro-studded BLM desert in the Hassayampa Field Office spreads across the bajada west of the Harquahala Mountains, where low-traffic dirt roads branch off the highway into open country near an old manganese mine. Multiple flat, spacious pullouts accommodate rigs of nearly any size — the northeast access via Little Horn Peak Road (signed at the highway) offers the smoothest approach, while a brief steep section on the southwest access demands a careful line but remains passable without four-wheel drive. Cell signal is minimal to nonexistent in the hollow sites; higher-elevation spots on the same road system get occasional signal and wide desert views.
