Dragonfly Creek Backcountry

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

This free hike-in campground sits within AK State Tentatively Approved Grant land, managed by the Alaska Department of Natural Resources. Campers access the site by following a narrow path down from the roadside to a camping area positioned at the base of rocky terrain. The location provides views of the Nenana River and features a waterfall nearby. Since the area falls outside National Park boundaries, overnight camping is permitted without restrictions. The setup works well for backpackers comfortable with carrying gear to remote spots and those seeking campgrounds around Healy as a base for exploring the region.

Near a beautiful local climbing spot

It’s not part of the National Park so camping is allowed. You follow a tiny little path down off the side of the road and can set up camp at the bottom of the rocks. The waterfall is beautiful and it offers wonderful views of the Nenana River.
