Bates Farm is a privately owned beautiful 44 acres area 8 miles from the Beltline outside of Decatur, Alabama city limits. We offer spots for primitive camping, tilled garden plots, Birthday parties with mini nature explorer kits and a guided hike, you pick wildflowers, fruits, and vegetables on the farm. Nature walks, hiking, birdwatching, butterfly releases are popular on the farm. Guided Star Gazing is available, campfires with S'mores kits are available.

Primitive camping means no power, water, nor waste disposal is provided.

We have picture and event venues. We homeschool friendly for science and nature trips.

Pitch your tent, hang you hammock, or park your camper and enjoy the great outdoors. There are a couple of level spots for your tents, as well as a nice rock fire pit for you to use. There is usually plenty of firewood available and there is an outhouse on the site. The pond hasn't yet been stocked with fish, but hopefully soon it will have more than just frogs. But for now the frogs provide great music. This is a rustic campsite, with rocks, roots, and steep terrain. Please bring your own camping gear, including chairs, and please take your trash with you. There is plenty of privacy, even though you are right near a public road that has very little traffic. There are no other campsites nearby and the owner lives 1/2 mile away. Recreation nearby includes Canoeing/kayaking on both the Elk River and Richland creek (shuttles can usually be arranged), Stillhouse Hollow Falls (beautiful waterfall hiking), Trail of Tears Interpretive Center, and Big Creek Winery.



York Hollow

Bucks Ranch is located on beautiful TN acers of farm land. We are a family friendly retreat facility and our property is an outdoor lovers dream. It is very peaceful and serene. There are a lot of areas for nature walks, and exploring. We have a beautiful creek that runs through the property. We have small farm animals- sheep, goats, pot belly pigs, donkeys, and chickens. We also have horses and offer horse riding lessons. Some of our amenities include a playground, gaga pit, tether ball, Food trailer (seasonal).

Conveniently located between Nashville, Memphis, and Huntsville, AL in the small community of Waynesboro, TN. Our Facility sits about 5 miles from the town square. Waynesboro is the county seat of Wayne County which includes, Waynesboro, Collinwood and Clifton. You will find small town charm in Wayne County as you explore our shops, restaurants, and local music history. Our community is bustling with local farmers and farmland and is bordered on the west by the TN River, in Clifton; and to the East by the Natchez Trace Parkway. Both the Natchez Trace and Tennessee River offer lots of activities, including nature and history, the trail of tears, nature hikes, boating and fishing. If Canoeing or Kayaking is of interest to you, the Buffalo River is about 5 miles from our facility. Travel 40 miles northeast and enter an Amish Community for Amish shopping and Tours. Or go straight to the East about 30 miles and visit Lawrenceburg, TN and Davy Crocket State Park. Head 40 miles west and discover all the history at the battle fields of Shiloh, just outside of Savanah, TN. And if Music is your interest adventure 45 min south to the "Shoals". Muscle Shoals and Florence Alabama have a rich southern history, beautiful historical homes, and musical roots. No matter the interest of your group, there are tons of things to do occupy your time.



Bucks Ranch 

The Florence Park and Recreation Department offers rentals ranging from outdoor shelters for family gatherings to camp sites to indoor facilities to entire game fields.  If you event is big enough, consider renting our coliseum for the evening or an entire weekend!  The coliseum is the perfect size for your event. Not too big and not too small. Perfect for concerts, sporting events, boat and RV shows, gun shows and even wedding receptions.

With two beautiful campgrounds next to the Tennessee River, you're sure to enjoy your stay.  The campgrounds provide RV and tent camping with electrical and water connections, sewer hookups, waste stations, bathhouse and laundry facilities.  McFarland Park has 60 campsites.  Campgrounds are currently open year round.  Our policy is first come first serve. There is no limit on the number of stays, only a limit on the maximum length of each stay (21 days). In addition to the resort lodge, Joe Wheeler features lakeside cottages and cabins. Joe Wheeler State Park's campground features a total of 116 campsites.  110 of those sites have full hookup with water, electricity, and sewer. There are bathhouses located in each section. Most sites can accommodate any size camping unit. Tents are also welcome. Picnic tables, pedestal, or fire grills are located at each site.

Walk by our beautiful rock bottom Mill Creek that flows thru the property. Rent a bike from us for just $5 a day and explore the 9 mile historic railroad bed walking trail. Cross over beautiful Mill Creek thru a covered bridge and ride on into Elkmont approx. 3 miles and enjoy lunch in our quaint town.

With the stunning Elk River just 3 miles away there is a boat launch to accommodate your river endeavors along with local Kayak rental available for rental and pick up trips. Enjoy just hanging out at the park with a game of horse shoes, bean bag toss game, or even shoot some hoops.
