The Best Camping Near La Crescent, Minnesota

This is a great campground. About a 10 minute walk over the Cass St. bridge and you are in the heart of downtown La Crosse. This campground offers everything.

Camping on the Mississippi 

We booked this on a whim so what’s expecting much but found it to be a wonderful getaway. 
Everything was easy to access and they had all the needed items on site. Propane, camp store, bar, golf cart rentals, canoes, etc. 
definitely worth renting a golf cart for the day as the campground is pretty spread out. 
We stayed in site 211 which was ok - shaded, etc. but the ticket is the sites by the water, either riverside or bay side. If you’re on the bay side you can being your boat and beach it right by your campsite. Fun! 
Worth coming back to for sure! 

Great campground for a family or groups! 

Tent sites are just okay. They are located directly across from houseboats, so little privacy. The area was also damp, which meant lots of bugs. I was envious of the RV side, which looked much nicer. It was not quiet due to being practically under the bridge into La Crosse. 
On the upside, The man working there was very friendly and helpful. It did not appear that anyone was masked or social distancing. The bar was open and patrons were next to each other on stools at the bar. Employees were also not wearing masks. 

Okay for tents

Tried to stay here. Booked a site over the phone, got a reservation but was not told a confirmation number or even what site number we would have. Had to get off the line quickly as they made it seem like they were too busy to talk to me. Called back weeks later to confirm and got a site number, but again seemed like I was unimportant. Called before the trip to verify that I could cancel due to covid travel restriction and was told it would be fine. When I canceled the next morning (as I was told I could do), the manager called me and rudely said that was not the case. Again, they always seemed to be too busy to take care of my needs as a guest. I wish that I could say I will try again, but this experience of poor customer service has made me sure that I will never be staying at this resort again.

Here for a soccer tournament this weekend. Have a spot right on the river. Wonderful campground

Very friendly, spot on the river. Looks like a lot of regulars-glad to be here in off season. Would come again.

Late fall camping

We got flooded out the only day we stayed. Got our money back for second night . Thank you. Mississippi was over flowing this flood plain and yet still beautiful and want to return. Nice people and treasure the area.

Beautiful

Pettibone is a nice park on an island in the Mississippi River in LaCrosse. Being from Louisiana it was cool to camp right beside the Mississippi River since we have levees between us and the river. We stayed one night on our way to Minnesota. There is plenty of shade. The park streets are asphalt with two concrete strips for your tires in the sites. The park was quiet except when someone decided to shoot fireworks between 10-11 pm. A little pricey at$54 considering there were no sewer hookups. 

  

Stayed in pull-through campsite#308 which was shady. It was a grass site with two concrete strips for my TT tires. There was more than enough parking for my TT and truck and grass on either side. The site included: picnic table on a concrete pad. Utilities were located in the rear. 20A/30A electric and water. Site was a little unlevel. Neighbors are close. 

  

AT&amp;T had 2-3 bars of LTE and Verizon 1 bars of LTE service. AT&amp;T Speedtest: 146 Mbps down, 4.8 Mbps up. Verizon Speedtest: 016 Mbps down, 0.14 Mbps up. Free WiFi.

Nice park on Miss River in LaCrosse

Nice park on Miss River near LaCrosse

This is a pretty nice RV park with plenty of camping sites. They have built it up to provide a lot of exposure to the water. There’s a boat yard on one side of the tent area. They have a fun little bar where you can play pool and buy beer to take back to your site. 

They gave us a cool private camp site at the end of the tent area. It was actually three sites put together and separated from the rest. More privacy than most any other campsite. 

Pretty cool RV/tent camping

Stopped here for the night. We stayed in the tent section with our teardrop trailer. Not many other tenters so we had the grassy site to ourselves. Site 609 was very close to bridge into LaCrosse so it was noisy but not as bad as I expected. The RV sites were pretty packed in but campers were having fun! Pit toilets were disgusting but the shower house with toilets was clean. Laundry available too. Drinking water close by.
