Description
Wind River Highway cuts through the dense green corridor of Gifford Pinchot National Forest to this free riverside spot just upstream from Beaver Campground at low elevation where the forest stays lush well into the shoulder seasons. Two pull-in areas, each with a fire ring, sit close to the water — the first is visible from the road, the second is set further back down a short track with water-filled potholes that favor high-clearance or AWD vehicles. A quarter-mile trail threads along the river, offering multiple access points; the sound of the current largely masks the light road traffic that passes through.
