Fantastic primitive camping

Green Ridge is a great place to get into deep boonies and get away from other people. Be aware, many of the roads(trails?)are very rough and not very suited to large pull behinds or full RVs. Most of the sites are better to haul your tent and gear in with something 4WD. Camp sites are generally…

Roads are a little hinky!

We arrived from the south entrance and the roads were awful! I understand it can be part of getting to those prime boondocking spots, but I was nervous in our 30 ft motor home. I definitely recommend for tent camping. All the sites had plenty of space with a fire ring and picnic tables. Lots of…

Amazing drive and lots of wildlife

We only stayed one night, but wish we could have stayed more! The campground offers so many different trails and breathtaking scenic overlooks of the Blue Ridge Mountains. As soon as we got there, we saw several deer. I’d almost say they were friendly :) No electric hookups, but the weather was…

Beautiful park with lots to do!

We stayed here four nights with lots of exploring and activities. The campground is beautiful and well-maintained. There’s a disc golf course that is easy and fun to follow. Also, a water park with a charge of $4 if you are a registered camper. Lots of trails and areas to bike. We stayed at spot…

Just Traveling Through...

This camp is fine for a quick stop, but could use some work to bring it up to a KOA standard. Bathrooms are a bit outdated and small, stall doors wouldn't lock. Only one bathroom/showers for the whole camp. Playground is fine. Jump pad needs to be replaced. Sites seem to be clean and it served its…

Nice hiking, kayaking & swimming

We hiked around Rock Cliff Lake and observed petrified wood. Swimming is excellent with sand beach. Big catfish in clear water. Water was so clean that it was throbbing with anfreshwater jellyfish. Very clean campground. Nice spot. The trout pond was dry.

Great for tent camping

Great campground for tent camping!  The sites for tents were walk-ins, but wagons were available and all the sites were easily accessible from the parking lot.  Some sites were right on the water, but slightly up in elevation.  Great view of stars and night and great view of river and mountains…

Our New Homebase

We have lived in northern Virginia for over 30 years and never been to this campground until this month! Very nice campground with friendly staff and friendly campground hosts. Sites are comfortably sized and provide privacy as well as allow socializing. Restrooms are extremely clean and the…

I'll go again just for the showers

We tent camped there with 2 other families memorial day weekend. It rained the entire time but we still had a blast.

The best review I can give us of the bathrooms. They're with staying again alone. Locking doors, individual stalls. Hot dog. Best camping showers I've ever had.

Only draw back is…

  • Showers. There's two shower sites.
  • Locking door!!
  • Site 71. 69 is a good buddy site

Outstanding State Park!

With large, private sites this campground is perfect for camping!  We never heard from the neighbors and I don't believe our constant activity created a problem for them either.  The sites were made of crushed rock, very flat, and the RV sites included water, electricity, a picnic table, poles for…

  • Plenty of wildlife including deer, rabbits, snakes, and a multitude of lizards. Not too buggy at all!
  • The Shenandoah River from a great view point in the park.
  • There are a couple of awesome fields that are very busy in the early morning and at dusk.

What an amazing campground for adults and kids.

We recent went camping for the first time at Jellystone in Maryland. 5 of our 6 kids came with us, so we knew we needed to find a camping ground more geared kids. Jellystone was amazing in every way possible.  The kids were never bored and had so much fun.  Us, as adults, were also never bored. We…

Simple and quaint

Location is everything. Wineries, breweries, historic parks and buildings nearby. Park itself is simple, wooded and charming. Hiking trails, a playground, and pool are great for our family of six. The bathhouses are clean. We visit 2-3x a year. Fall is STUNNING!

Large, level and well spaced.

Some of the largest sites we’ve ever seen in a state park. I don’t believe there is a bad site in the park. We had rabbits grazing at our site too. Shenandoah NP is about a 10 mile drive away.
