Campers venturing across Tennessee have access to hiking, boating, fishing, biking, rock climbing and picnicking across 56 state parks, enough variety to satisfy any adventurer’s soul. With terrifically high Appalachian peaks and plunging caverns, Tennessee travelers can get a sense of the sublime landscape that inspired music legends from Nashville to Memphis by camping in Tennessee. 


East Tennessee is home to a part of the oldest mountain range in the world, the Great Smoky Mountains. As the name suggests, the peaks are often shrouded in fog, but that doesn’t make the view from Clingmans Dome any less spectacular. At 6,643 feet, Clingmans Dome towers as the highest point in Tennessee and the third highest point east of the Mississippi River. Make sure to say hi to the hardcore hikers, many people hiking the entire Appalachian Trail will stop at this unforgettable lookout. 


A clear day at the dome observatory provides views as far as 100 miles. But explorers camping in Tennessee should plan on hiking their way up to the point, the roadway that leads to the observatory closes during inclement weather and from Dec. 1 to March 31 every year. 


If you’re camping with the kids and they’re looking for more occupation than your campsite offers, many of the natural attractions in Tennessee are also family friendly. Lookout Mountain is only minutes from Chattanooga and offers several world-famous sites like Rock City and the See Seven States point. 


All the mountain peak trails may leave the heights-averse camper less than enthused. But Tennessee has something for everyone. Also at Lookout Mountain, but plummeting beneath ground level, is where you’ll find Ruby Falls, the largest and deepest underground waterfall in the nation.

Awakening Adventures

True West is centrally located by Big South Fork with easy access to a great many outdoor adventures. Our facilities include 33 easy access, level RV and camping sites, all with water and electric, some with sewer hookups. Our shower houses are very clean and provide plenty of hot water!

For those who use it, there is a WIFI hot spot on the covered deck and a Verizon "hot spot" where cell phone signals are hard to come by! 

Don't have a Camper or Living Quarter? We've got you covered! We have lodging available to rent. Many different options to choose from. There is the Marshal Suite in the main building, the tucked-in-the-woods Miner's Shack Cabin or a camper you can rent that will sleep a family of up to 10. We also offer the unique experience of sleeping in covered wagons or teepee - but with some creature comforts of home (beds!!).

If you are in need of horse facilities, we have two large barns with a total of 67 stalls, each with 2 bucket hooks for your water and feed, a saddle rack and a bridle hook. We have a few extra large stalls, as well as two large horse wash areas, and a large 60' round pen.

True West also offers parking and the use of the common area to those just passing through for the day and needing access to the trails.

Rest for a while on the scenic Cumberland Plateau.  Right off Interstate 40 (Exit 320 Genesis Rd - same exit as Bucees) in Crossville, TN.  All sites have full hookups - 50/30 Amp, sewer, and water.  Excellent free WiFi. Buddy sites available.  Pull through sites.  Splashpad and Playground for the kids.  Open air Pavilion with massive fireplace.  Indoor conference rooms.  A clean, well kept, Pet Friendly RV Park.

Paradise on the Mountain RV Park

Pet friendly primitive campsite on 1.5 acre mini-farm. Leashed pets welcome. Water available. Stalls available for additional fee. Bring your horses and explore the local State and Federal Parks. Horse trails, hiking trails, and waterfalls nearby. Max. 2 horses. Maximum stay, 2 nights/3 days.



King's Coach Stop

Located next to R. M. Brooks Store and one mile from Clear Fork River, this park is also adjacent to the Brewestertown Big South Fork Trail Head!  What a great location for campers.  We currently have 7 sites with 30 amp and 3 with 50 amp service and all sites full service.  Bath house and restrooms provided.  

Park your camper, rv or pitch your tent, and when you finish,  grab a chair, sit back, close your eyes and feel that county breeze under our big shade trees, the way it use to be!

Brooks Corner Campground & RV Park

Getaway Campgrounds offers a modern, immersive outdoor experience for today’s camper. Each campsite is built for comfort, with clean and modern amenities designed to help you soak in your surroundings.

Our campsites are about 200 square feet with approximately 10’ by 10’ of space for a tent. Each campsite is surrounded by nature and offers a secluded, covered structure complete with a picnic table, hammock, fire pit, and Adirondack chairs.

You’ll also have a kitchenette fit for cooking with a propane burner (plus propane canister), and essentials including oil, salt + pepper, dishware, cutlery, and non-perishable provisions for purchase.

Plus, private bathroom suites (hot shower, toilet, and sink) are nearby.

Our beautiful campground is located at the foot of Windrock Mountain, where 4-wheeling and ATV riding is in our backyard. We have had a variety of names, but no matter what you call us, we’d love to have you stay with us! Our primal campground has a stream, rolling hills, lots of flat landings and beautiful views. At Maple Hill we have two different types of sites plus two different style of cabins: Pull Thru: 65 feet in length and can fit a large motor coach with ease Back-in: 45 feet in length All of our sites are equipped with water, sewage, 20 amp / 30 amp / 50 amp, electrical hook up, cable TV, and WIFI. Cabins: The Studio- is a 350 sq ft fully furnished cabin. Sleeps two adults comfortably with a sitting porch across the front to enjoy the sunrise Rustic Deluxe Bunkhouse- is a rustic bunk house with a half bath that sleeps four. Water, air and heat, cable TV, microwave, mini fridge, a double bed and two bunks (no linens provided) and a porch on the front to enjoy nature, fireflies, and cool nights for stargazing. Primitive tent sites- walk down the nature trail to find these secluded primitive sites, close to the bath house, pavilion and large communal fire pit and BBQ grill.
