Horseshoe Lake (Olallie) Campground - Closed

Beautiful Lake and Stars!!

We visited Horseshoe Lake campground in mid-June and saw some snow still on the ground! This campground is not accessible for those not familiar with their vehicle's capabilities, or who have crummy tires, the drive in is ROUGH.

We stayed in Site 7, perfect for 3-4 small tents, or 1-2 large ones. It appears to be the largest site, and a short walk to the only vault toilet. Most of the sites are fairly private. This one is right on the road, bit with only 10 sites and very little through traffic, this wasn't any sort of problem. It was right on the lake, and though the mosquiotos were out in full force, it's not unexpected, and was only annoying until we got a nice fire going.

We camped while the campgound was technically closed, but were okayed to do so by the camp hosts at Olallie Lake. With that, the lake wasn't stocked with fish, and it wasn't busy, just some other quiet campers like us.

There are several beautiful lakes nearby with hikes and canoeing and fishing available, which we took advantage of as well.

The stars were out in full force since the light pollution was zero, which made for an amazing nightime view.

Overall a great quick trip, and somewhere I'd for sure camp in again.
