Dispersed along NF Road 46 between Thomason Meadow Guard Station and Buckhorn Lookout, this free campsite sits at roughly 5,000 feet on the rim of the Imnaha River breaks, with open sightlines down into the canyonlands of the Imnaha and Snake rivers. No water is available on site. The road in is well-maintained gravel, manageable by SUV with decent tires and confirmed passable by truck with a toy-hauler trailer. Campers should bring all water and supplies, as the area is genuinely remote, with resupply and water refill roughly 50 minutes away. Late spring brings notable wildflower diversity along this stretch, and raptors are commonly spotted. Buckhorn campground lies 3.2 miles north along the same road. Those interested in campgrounds near Imnaha will find this area suits campers who are fully self-sufficient and comfortable with no cell service.
