The coolest part of camping at Petigrew was that there is an old plantation right through a path near the campground. My kids loved it and I actually used it as the backdrop for some amazing family photos. Lake Phelps is a small hike away as well and the kids loved swimming there. As someone who had grown up on the river, it was unique swimming in a lake. The camp was a little disappointing. There was not much shade at our site, but other sites seemed have shade pretty good. The side opposite of the shower house was the side with all of the trees and shade. I would def go back, but I would have to make sure we got a better site this time.
