Holston Creek Road Dispersed — Croatan NF

Croatan National Forest's coastal lowlands are dense with pocosins and pine savanna, and open clearings large enough to camp in are genuinely scarce — most forest road gates are locked. The spot at the end of this hard-packed dirt spur off Holston Creek Road (FS 203) is one of the few accessible exceptions: a roomy, level clearing with ample firewood nearby. The easy road surface handles a range of vehicle sizes, though visitors should verify access conditions before arrival given the area's fire history.
