We visited this with our dog Oakley for his first time camping last fall. It was nice and quite because of the time of year and was perfect because we didn't know how he was going to do. He absolutely loved it and there was plenty of space in the tent site for him to roam around. This campground is one of the first campgrounds on the kancamangus which makes it extremely accessible for most. The site offers basic ammentities such as clean toilets. The swift river is in walking distance and offers a great place to relax after a long day in the New Hampshire woods. All in all it is a great local site like most run by the White Mountain Forest Service.

We stayed for a long weekend and had a great experience. The staff was super helpful in helping to load our gear from the parking area to the short hike to the yurt. We brought snow shoes and ice cleats and had a beautiful walk around the properties trails. It was extremely cold during our stay and I was surprised how well the wood stove worked to keep us toasty though we had to get up through the night to keep adding wood. We loved it so much we booked for a future visit as soon as we got home.

We are seasoned RV'ers and have traveled extensively visiting campgrounds all over the East Coast. In all the years we have been camping we have NEVER been treated so horribly. The owners are by far the nastiest people I have ever met. Our son owns a very popular business in the same town. He also lives right up the road from the campground. We were visiting for 4 days excited to spend some time with our grandkids. We were hoping to spend a couple of hours on Saturday with the kids by the pool. Something I told the owner when I called to book. He never once mentioned extra fees. He also said he would be happy to put us by the pool. It all started the first night when we had our son, daughter in law and one grandchild for dinner. They wanted to charge my daughter in law$115 to visit. I went up to the office and tried to explain that they would be there only about an hour for dinner. They said for them to visit for 4 days that was the charge. I tried to explain that they would only be having dinner that night and Friday night. The kids were in camp all day so no kids would be with us during the day. They let them in for an hour. The next morning, the husband was out by the pool, so I went over to try and talk to him. I let him know that we would probably not be there very much during the four days or it would only be for dinners. We had hoped to have the kids for a couple hours on Saturday to use the pool so I offered to pay for that. He got very defensive and told me that campers like Me didn't belong in his campground, and that he he was a small local company and they all work together in that town. I replied well, if you all work together then obviously, you don't work with certain businesses because my son owns one of the best businesses in the town. He told me if I didn't like it that he would give me my money back. I went back to the RV and spoke to my husband called my son. My son said mom just get out of there and go to my house. As I was packing up to leave, he came along with his golf cart, and his wife and I had my back to him and I turned and told him we were leaving. He had my check in his hand and gave it back to me. And told me to get out and then the wife got out and started using the F word She was so nasty that we couldn't wait to get out of there since then we've read a lot of negative reviews similar to our experience. All I can say is if you want to go camping in Thornton, New Hampshire don't go to Goose Hollow campground. If you're an outsider you will be treated like trash. We have camped many times at Branch Brook campground in Campton New Hampshire, which is right down the street. We made a big mistake choosing GOOSE HOLLOW this time. The kicker is that the pamphlet that they give you when you arrive with the map it says on the pamphlet if you have overnight guests you're allowed four adults and two children total. The extra adults would pay$10 apiece and the children would pay five dollars apiece but that was for OVERNIGHT only. Not at any time did we plan to have guests overnight. Also, we booked(and paid for) a site which would've included two adults and two children. I explained to them that we were only two adults, and if we did have the grandkids there, they would be the two children. He told me those were OLD rules. BEWARE If I could give this 0 stars I would

We ended up here as a last resort before having to turn home. After getting a late start to our hike we didn't pull into our first campsite choice until 630. On a July saturday evening in the New Hampshire White Mountains, not a good thing. All 5 campgrounds on the kancamangus were full and we had to resort to White Ledge, about 6 miles past the kancamangus. Luckily there were a few sites left, and for good reason. The sites were decent enough and the facilities clean. However the proximity to the busy road was unfortunate. We could here cars the entire night which was a little annoying. Overall if you need to camp in a pinch because everything is busy it's not a bad option, just not the best.

On the upside I got to try this awesome lantern that I won from TheDyrt last month! This lantern is perfect for car camping - a little too bulky for backpacking. Firstly, it seemed to hold a good charge throughout the entire time. It was also extremely bright and lite up the entire site for us. It had an option for a directional light which was good because we got there late and we're trying not to bug the site next to us. It was not as bright on the directional setting (kinda obvious) but still did the trick. It feels like it is going to be quite rugged and I love the stand it has on it. The ability to charge something with it is awesome, and to crank it if you lost a charge. Very interested to try both of these options in the future. The one thing I was disappointed with is there is no clip I could find to hang it from the tent. You can clip on the stand but it hangs lopsided, not a deal breaker by any means. Overall this is a great lantern and would definitely recommend it! Thanks Dyrt!

We had an amazing family camping trip to Mountain Lake Campground. This is definitely one of those campgrounds that has something for everyone. All of the attractions of the White Mountains plus all of the amenities you could ask for in a campground. There is a heated pool with water slides that even adults can enjoy, a lake for swimming and boating with rentals available, activities for the kids, a playground and giant life-size checker/chess boards, clean bathrooms/showers, and they can even deliver blueberry muffins and hot coffee to your campsite in the morning (which worked really well for us on the morning we checked-out because we were able to pack up the kitchen the night before!).

We camped in a large group and stayed in yurts, cabins, the tee pee and tents/trailers. Everyone was happy with their stay. The rental units were clean and some of the cabins even had bathrooms/kitchenettes. The sites were spacious and wooded. We booked late and weren't all together but we didn't mind walking.

Some even went to Santa's Village while other went hiking in the mountains or hung at the campground. We had an awesome stay and can't wait to go back.

I could not have been happier with this campground. From the minute we pulled in, we were greeted with smiles and treated like family. We will make this a regular spot of ours.

Chocorua KOA is a great campground, very well kept (bathrooms, showers, walkways etc.), all staff I’ve come in touch with has always been pleasant, there’s quite a few activities available for kids and adults, they do arts and crafts, movie nights, hikes and other things for children you can also rent canoes, kayaks, paddle boards, there’s an arcade and some lawn games like corn hole all open for the campers to use. Although depending on your site it is fairly close to RT 16 so you will most likely here a good amount of traffic all day and some of the night, the “lake” to me is more of an over grown pond which can be a little unpleasant to swim in. But there are a few trails connected right into the campground which have maps supplied at the entrance of the trails All in all it’s a really nice campground if you’re not looking for the “wilderness experience” and want to relax with your family or whoever.

We stayed here during the COVID-19 pandemic and campgrounds were just starting to cautiously open up. There were some rules in place in order to ensure social distancing and reduce risk to ourselves and to the staff. Therefore a lot of the facilities and amenities were not available to us during our stay. No pavilion, arcade, playground, etc. 

But the point of our stay was just to get away, get outside and have some fresh air and new scenery. 

The waterfront site we had (site 38) was very nice, it's pretty spacious. The deck had furniture on it and a grill. The campground is well maintained, nice, clean. The furniture was in good shape, the grill was an older weber grill that worked great. Our site had a concrete fire pit, it looks like lots of them had a similar setup.

Waking up to the sound of the loons in the morning was wonderful. 

Our site was labeled as a 50 amp connection, but it wasn't, it was 30 amp. So double check that. Most of the waterfront sites are back in, and the only level part of the site is away from the deck and water. My wife wanted to get the camper up close to the deck so our area under the awning was close to that, which meant I had a lot more leveling to do. And when I say a lot, I mean my 5" drive on leveling blocks weren't enough and I had to put them on top of a 2x8 to level the camper out. 

The wifi actually was decent at this site - I'm surprised because 8 out of 10 campgrounds I go to that claim wifi, its slow and unusable. 

The firewood was kind of pricey. You get it for $6.50 a bundle if you buy at least 2 at a time. 

The first 2 nights there were really weird noises that woke us all up. The first night it sounded like a large Diesel engine or something was running in the distance. Kind of a low frequency sound that carried through the campsite and was hard to pinpoint. The second night, it sounded like an electrical short happening right across the street at a campsite. I was never able to figure out the source of these 2 events.
