Lake Shel-oole Campground

Just a great, clean, well mowed and very quiet place to stay if you’re traveling through. Cannot beat the price. The dog run was quite grassy and had been maintained and was clean. Didn’t use the facilities but appeared clean from the outside. Very much appreciated the town offering such a reasonable option. Will use again.

Just $25! Especially great deal for those of you towing around a one bedroom apartment and want electricity. I’m just car camping. Bathroom is old, but I got a hot shower. Didn’t want to keep driving as it was getting later. This looks like a great place to snag a first-come-first-serve spot, get in a shower, then wake up early ready to get right back on the road. Not far from town either which has got some food and bar options.

The site is nice and grassy with gravel pads. It sits like in a bowl so there is some protection from the wind, Although it is quite windy tonight. The bathhouse was flooded with water because the drain in the floor was clogged. Other than that is looks pretty clean. It has soap and paper towels. There is some shade. They are trying to grow some trees. It has water and electricity for $25 ! You can’t beat it! The town ballpark is next door so it gives a homey feel without the noise. And no train noise!!

Pretty nice spot quick off the highway. Not a lot of people while I was here. Mostly camper trailers. I do a hammock. My site had a pump with great flow and my electric socket worked. Bathrooms weren’t bad, showers were fine.

An hour and a half east of the St. Mary entrance to Glacier National Park--great when you are (like us) headed east after a long day in the park--this municipal campground exceeded expectations.  A pleasant, well-maintained loop of sites, many with electricity and some with water (although the spigots, on some sites, were bizarrely distant from the normal location near the electrical box, requiring long hoses).  Set in the area below the dam for Lake Shel-oole, with access to the lake from the campground loop.  The lake was low during our stay, so not clear what activities might be available when the water is higher.  Well patrolled, with a bathhouse in the center of the loop, old-school but serviceable, containing flush toilets and hot showers. Relatively far from any highways and train tracks, so (for this part of the world, and unlike many commercial campgrounds) was very  quiet.

Nice campground but not many amenities. You fill out a form and submit payment in a box at the entrance. Restrooms are rustic but have showers. Has Electric and Some sites have water and some have picnic tables. Saw the Sheriff making rounds.

Lake Shel-oole Campground is a hidden gem in Shelby, Montana! This campground offers a plenty to do. There are baseball diamonds, a nice little dog run with a couple of obstacles, a fishing dock (although when we were here the lake water was pretty low) and biking trails. If you follow the bike trail it will take you to a paved exercise trail. The facilities are well-maintained, the showers are nice and hot, and the staff is friendly and accommodating. Whether you're traveling in an RV or setting up a tent, the spacious sites provide comfort and convenience. It's an ideal spot.

We spent two nights at this campground. Campground was quiet even for being in a railroad town. Hardly heard any train noise. Bathrooms appeared to get cleaned everyday. Sites have electric to them. Campground person came through every morning and talked to use. The local sheriffs office went through multiple times. Most water spickets did not seem to work so had to haul water from the spicket behind the RV dump station. This campground has issues with gophers and gopher holes. One camper got kicked out after six weeks of not paying while we were there according to the campground attendant. Lot cheaper than getting a hotel room at the cheapest hotel in town. Will stay again when we visit family in town.

The campground was mostly empty on July 3rd & 4th. A pay ($25 a night) station is on the honor system. Bathrooms and showers are old but in working order. A few sketchy looking campers here that look like from the movies breaking bad. If you know what I mean. Good for a night or two only.

$25 a night. Restrooms and showers but did not need them. 30amp and water at some sites. Several spigots around the campground . Back in sites are small. Pull throughs are big rig friendly.

We got here on Sunday and the campground was empty except for one other camper. Lots of sites with electric some have water. Plenty of spigots otherwise around the grounds. Still $25 but a great deal. Glad the town supports it. Police patrol often.

I camp in my vehicle. The campground has great bathrooms and showers.

Traveling Hwy 2, we were looking for a quiet spot. Clean bathrooms with showers, electrical hook up and water near by. “Lake” is small and silty. Perfect spot for a good night sleep, though. $25

This is a clean respectable camping area. No privacy between sites, but they are level and a good deal for $25/night. Our site had electric hookups with water nearby. I don't think there was a camphost. Some large pull throughs and smaller back ins. Playfields are nearby and we heard the happy sound of kids playing in the background. Bathroom/showers were basic but clean.
