Description
A quiet clearing in Helena National Forest sits off Middle Fork Road between Lava Mountain and Burnt Mountain, at around 4,700 feet in the open Montana hill country. The spot centers on an established fire ring with ample room for rigs of most sizes, and the sound of a nearby creek carries through at night. The access spur has a rough first entrance — pulling 20 feet farther to the second entrance avoids the worst of the ruts. Cell service is essentially nonexistent, with only a faint signal available by walking uphill.
