Located at mile marker 117 on westbound I-80 near Minooka, this rest area offers direct access from the highway with separate paved parking areas for passenger vehicles and trucks. The site is flat and spacious, making it easy for driving in and settling overnight. The best spot? The passenger-side parking section, tucked away from truck lanes is much more ideal for a quieter, less traffic-prone overnight stay. But if noise doesn’t bother you, there’s more space over in the overnight trucking area.
The area includes clean flush toilets, picnic tables, vending machines for snacks or beverages and helpful weather information displays. Lighting is functional but not overbearing, contributing to a safe and utilitarian vibe with classic highway“stretch-my-legs” comfort. And if you are traveling with the kiddos, there’s also a playground as well as a few nice patches where your four-legged friends can do their thing.
This rest area doesn’t have food outlets or convenience stores on-site, so grabbing a meal or supplies means heading to the next exit where you’ll discover the little town of Morris, where you can find great little digs like The Country Farmhouse, Chili’s Grill& Bar, The Hideout(which is so dang popular there’s actually 2 of them) as well as McBride’s and The Pub.
