Located at mile marker 51 on eastbound I-80 just west of Princeton, this rest area offers straightforward access directly from the interstate. The parking area is spacious and paved, with clear separation between passenger vehicles and truck parking. The layout is simple, incredibly flat and ideal for pulling in, stretching your legs and grabbing a few hours of shut-eye. If you’re planning an overnight stop, aim for the passenger-side spots tucked away from the truck lanes to enjoy a bit more peace and less late-night engine hum.
Facilities include clean restrooms, excellent picnic tables for a quick picnic and vending machines for snacks or drinks. While there’s no Wi-Fi or restaurant on-site, the rest area has good lighting and clear signage and pet relief areas are conveniently available for travelers’ fur babies. Overall, it feels like a safe, no-frills place to reset mid-road trip.
There aren’t any restaurants or stores directly adjacent to this rest area, so for food or supplies you’ll need to continue east. Within a few minutes of the next exit(Princeton), travelers can access gasoline from Becks, Shell and Amoco, diners such as Grace, marquee pizza joints like Paisano’s Ristorante, wine bars like Wild Ginger Bistro and bakeries featuring the one and only Myrtle’s Pie as well as convenience stores like Walmart and Dollar General, hardware stores like Ace and grocers such as Sullivan’s to stock up before heading back on the road.
